And some people think building a mosque is disrespectful to the victims of 9/11! Get a load of this mob, sheesh...

– This weekend, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are hosting a rally in Anchorage, Alaska to mark the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Ticket prices range from $73.75 per person (including taxes and fees) to a high of $225. As the Hill newspaper reports, “there was no indication as to whom or what the proceeds will go.”

– Disgraced lobbyist Ralph Reed is using his consulting firm Century Strategies to host a “Faith and Freedom Conference and Strategy Briefing” with an assortment of conservatives, including Brent Bozell, Tony Perkins, Rich Lowry, Tucker Carlson, Grover Norquist, Gov. Bob McDonnell (R-VA), Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA), Erick Erickson, and others. The event is on September 10th-11th, and costs $95 for early registration.

– Newt Gingrich is using the September 11th anniversary to unveil a new movie called “America At Risk,” which Gingrich says will drive the “national dialogue” about President Obama’s failure to address the rise of “Radical Islam” and its attempt to impose Sharia law on the United States. Gingrich’s website notes that the public can “pre-order your copy now for just $19.95 plus $4 shipping.”

I thought this was gonna be the thread where we started two wars in the middle-east, siphoned off a couple trillion dollars for the military industrial complex, and said why we all hate on the brown people...oh yeah, and how we would have a republican majority for 20~30 odd years.

carry on...

No one is trying to stop them, just highlighting out their gross hypocrisy and cynical opportunism, that's all.

Feel free to protest their disrespect all you like; just don't come back to me all butthurt when people tell you the First Amendment totally allows it, and you should either rejoice or shut up.

We know it is allowed. It is also allowed that we say that the Arctic Quitter and the Sobbing Critter are low-life sleazebags for capitalizing on the tragedy and, simultaneousaly, fanning the flames of religious bigotry.

9/11 is probably the most politically significant event since the Vietnam war. I'm not particularly shocked or surprised that politicians of all parties try to exploit it for political and/or monitary gain.

Agreed both sides use it to prop up there views just like any other major event in history. Not to say that it is right but it's bound to happen from both sides.

Eggzackly! I can recall the time Eisenhower did that fundraiser on 12-7-57 for the lulz...and then on 12-7-62, Kennedy tried to raise some cash to get Marilyn a new dress. Oh, and on 12-7-69, Tricky Dick held that party to raise some money for a new tape recorder...

12-7-41...NEVER FORGET
I'm letting the monitary typo slide

I understand they now allow Japanese temples to exist near where the USS Arizona was bombed...

Only because all the politicians and pundits held fundraisin' events on that special day of December, the Seventh, to be eggzach...you see, this thread is not about temples and mosques, it's about the way opportunists like Palin and Beck will use the US flag to rake in some cash from their rubes.

You wanna talk about temples and mosques?
Those threads are over <-----, -----> , ^^^^^

What I find especially amusing is that conservatives are critizing Obama for not being at Ground Zero on 9/11 (he'll be at the Pentagon). Why aren't they criticizing their own for the fundraising on 9/11?

Speaking of hypocrisy and political opportunism:

The story doesn't make mention of any candidate fundraisers, but Ohio Senate candidate Lee Fisher is crossing that line as well, with a campaign fundraiser that evening at the home of a Mansfield City councilwoman, Ellen Hairing.

Asked about the timing, a Fisher aide noted that earlier that day, the Democrat is attending a first-responder dedication ceremony in Hilliard, Ohio.

His Republican opponent, Rob Portman, isn't doing any events that day, an aide said.

Fisher is, as far as I know, the only federal candidate in the country holding a fundraiser that day.

Hey, I don't really care that Republicans, or Democrats choose to fundraise on 9/11. But don't turn around and criticize the President for not being at Ground Zero on 9/11 as conservatives are doing. Funny how they did not criticize Bush when he was not at Ground Zero on numerous 9/11 anniversaries.
