Really? Let's take 2 popular horror villians. Jason and Freddy Krueger. Do you remember their bask stories? What about Blair Witch?

You empathize with the characters in horror movies, it's their what they do that you despise.

It's irrelevant to the issue though, there's money in pandering to people's dark side. As long as it's entertainment there's nothing wrong with it.

No I am very familiar with Horror as a genre. The reason it is called Horror is because it is horrific. Horrific for the Victims of the Villains. What is so hard to understand about this. This is a standard of entertainment since Faust, Frankenstein, and Dracula.

I'm not sure what this derail is about, but I'll humour you.

Every knows the villain has a sad back story that led them to their evil ways. Some sadistic mother, or friends that tormented them to the point they snap and start killing people.

And everyone knows that the only people that die, the "victims" in a horror movie had it coming. If you're good and virtuous you don't get killed. That's the rules. Haven't you seen Scream? :)

None the less, violence is violence, and movie violence, for what ever reasons, is very common. Horrorcore is just a stage show with a crappy rap sound track.

It's fake. Make believe. A bunch of characters literally screaming bloody murder and spraying Faygo onto a crowd of crazed fans.

You go, you get crazy, you see the show and you go home.


edit: I just realized you say you are familiar with Horror. I'm calling BS, you don't even know the basics.

Again I ask if you empathize with the Villian? You say I don't know horror of course I do. I just listed three classic horror stories that I've read. You want more how about Dante's Inferno.
As far as a derail this is very pertinent to you're argument that ICP are just joking and if you can't see that oh well that's kind of the point.

So yes it is possible to empathize with the villain due to his back story but really he's who you want to rout for in the final fight? Note this is not a statement this is a question.

Of course I empathize with the villain, they always have some sad story. That's no excuse for mass murder though.

It isn't so much that ICP are joking, it that they are the joke. Their freaking Insane Clowns. The real joke is that people could take Insane Clowns seriously or as anything but a joke.

You seem to understand this with religion but not with popular culture.
 
3body, do you really think the majority of ICP's legion of "Jugalos" share your opinion of them being fictional characters? What do you think a typical Jugalo would say when you explain that to a few of them?

You'd win a Nobel Prize for quantifying the harm a message or a movie or a song can do. When you do we'll compare "Miracles" to the Bible or The Anarchist Cookbook. Until then what's really important is how we teach people to interpret the messages they hear, not censor the messages.

I'm seriously considering going to Hallowicked this year, if I do I will try to get some random responses to your question. I'm sure they will find it as entertaining as I have.

I honestly don't know what kind of picture you have painted in your head about ICP fans. It doesn't jive with what I've ever seen. They're not hippies you know?

Nope, I'll always support people's Constitutional Rights. You haven't presented an argument anywhere near being close enough to revoke someone's First Amendment rights.
