Teabagger Calls Bloomberg "Judenrat"

It's unclear exactly what Williams means by the term "Judenrats," but as you can see from the context, it's highly unlikely he's using the word as a term of endearment. As you may or may not remember from your World War II history, a Judenrat were the local Jewish councils that Nazis put in charge of administering the ghettos. Not exactly the kind of thing most people often call American Jewish politicians like Bloomberg and Stringer.

I didn't know that. I just assumed it meant "Jewish rat" or something. I think that's what he meant to imply anyway.

Still, I don't think you can blame everyone who calls themself a Tea Partier for the disgusting comments of one (unelected) man any more than you can hold other democrats responsible for the stupid things Rosie O'donnell says. They're both self-appointed blowhards who don't speak for anyone but themselves really.

ETA: Williams himself explains what he meant

Mark Williams said:
* “Judenrats“: Were Jews in Nazi occupied Europe who collaborated with the Nazis to turn in other Jews (like as happened to Anne Frank) in return for promises of Nazi favor (always revoked via killing the Jedenrat). In the Camps they were known as “Sonderkommando” and were tasked with leading the other Jews into the ovens before being machine-gunned down and incinerated themselves by their Nazi masters. Only the 8th Sonderkommando (Auschwitz) rebelled, they were mowed down.

I dislike the Tea Party as much as anybody, but I have to point out that there is NO central Tea Party organization. It is a very fragmented movement, largely because of the egos of individual leaders.
There are people who call themselves Tea Party Members whose main concern is lower taxes and cutting the deficit(whether these two are compatible is another story). And there are Tea Party members who do,frankly, want a return to a world where White Christian Males ruled, and Minorites and Wimmen knew their place.
IMHO,the second group is going to make the term Tea Party so odious that the other group will find another term for themselves.
And as a Sacramentan, I wish Mark Williams would leave this town, and take his bigotry with him. IMHO, WIlliams has pretty much decided to push the bigotry.
And of course those who dislike conservatives in general are going to try to paint with as broad a bush as possible...exactly the way some Tea Party members like to portray all liberals as either covert Commies or dupes.

There is no legitimate use of a Tu Quoque fallacy.

I disagree there is no legitimate use of Tu Quoque.

If one's argument is that person "A" is inferior (for a job, for public office, or just in general) to person "B" because of some unpleasant thing that "A" did... it is valid to refute it by pointing out that person "B" has done that unpleasant thing too.

calling a Jewish person a "Judenrat" just because he supports the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, is too disgusting to describe.

This insanity needs to end.

It still comes down to a matter of the rightwingnuts opoening the door to all manner of vermin to pad their numbers, and, in some cases, unwittingly volunteering to act as shock troops for the white nationalists.

Both rely on keeping the shrieking monkeys stirred up to regain power within or to conquer government.

Mark Williams is hardly self-appointed. He was the chairman and spokesperson for the Tea Party Express - a major Tea Party organization - and still remains affiliated with them. Can anyone tell me what official position Rosie O'Donnell holds in the Democratic Party?

Last year, while still chairman of the Tea Party Express, Williams made headlines referring to Obama as an "Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug" and was not expelled from the Tea Party Express nor removed from his position. And the Tea Party Express still saw massive turnout for their events and attracted notable conservative speakers like Sarah Palin.

So maybe you can't hold the entire Tea Party resposible for the behavior of Mark Williams, but you can certainly hold them responsible for the company they keep.

And it turns out they are quite cozy with at least one racist.

I'm starting to develop some respect for Bloomberg as a result of this fiasco.

Quoted by CNN:

At an interfaith memorial service for the martyred journalist Daniel Pearl, Imam Rauf said, ‘If to be a Jew means to say with all one's heart, mind, and soul: Shma` Yisrael, Adonai Elohenu Adonai Ehad; Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One, not only today I am a Jew, I have always been one. If to be a Christian is to love the Lord our God with all of my heart, mind and soul, and to love for my fellow human being what I love for myself, then not only am I a Christian, but I have always been one.'

In that spirit, let me declare that we in New York are Jews and Christians and Muslims, and we always have been. And above all of that, we are Americans, each with an equal right to worship and pray where we choose. There is nowhere in the five boroughs that is off limits to any religion.

Insh'allah, these words will not be lost.

Remember kids, the Tea Party is motivated by lower taxes and a return to the Constitution!

Williams appended his posting to say that Judenrat "is a derogatory term for the Jews who collaborated with the Nazis. Judenrats were Jews who turned in people like Anne Frank."

"Bloomberg and Stringer are exactly that, selling out not just Jews but all Civilized Mankind to the 21 Century Nazi ideology of Radical Islam as represented by Ground Zero Mosque," Williams wrote.

You mean low as in carrying guns to political rallies, thinking everyone wearing green is part of a conspiracy and fantasizing about killing people you disagree with in a 2nd American Civil War? Or do you mean some other kind of low?

Well, the first and third were pretty low lows for the Tea Party as well (they've done both), but that second one wasn't the Tea Party, that was the Iranian government after the election protests last year.
