Yes this crime serves as more evidence that if you really knew all the stuff going on out there in the world you'd never sleep at night.

Monique Lynch affidavit: Woman may have buried alive 9-year-old who soiled herself

The case against Monique Lynch and Hanif Sims, who were returned to Colorado from Nevada after contractors discovered the body of Sims's nine-year-old daughter, Genesis, in the basement of a Monument home where they once lived, was already shocking. But a just-released document only ups the ante.It seems that Genesis may have been buried alive after being beaten for soiling herself -- and lingering in agony for two days.

May have?
Until after the trial, the media has to use phrases such as "alleged" and "may have".

Such as "Alleged horrible twisted [Expletive] may have committed horrific atrocity that could possibly make every civilized person want to have them, perhaps, executed in a barbaric yet fitting way."

What I find bizarre is when I read statements such as "person x has been charged over the alleged assault".

Alleged assault? So someone has been charged over a crime we're not sure even happened?

Reading stories like this makes me physically feel like vomiting.

Some people shouldn't be parents. I happen to be one of them for numerous personal reasons, which is why I made the responsible choice not to have any. Seems like some people don't have the mental capacity to make that same choice.

Using a log-splitter comes to mind.

If you ask me, this is a case where Iran would be correct in stoning someone to death.

Until the trial's over, yes. Until then, we may find out that the victim actually walked into a door frame and blamed it on a random passer-by.

I'm the same way. And not because I would pull a horrible stunt like that but just because I'm too lazy to get up early enough to feed them and get 'em ready for school. Some people have a hard time understanding how you wouldn't want children though. They think people like us are "weird".

Indeed.

We're 'one and done' by choice (mostly mine, but I didn't hear much argument from Mr Arisia when I expressed my opinion), and I haven't regretted that choice, ever. I just can't imagine giving birth and not loving that child so much that I'd rather suffer myself than let that child face what is essentially torture. Let alone inflicting torture on my own child.

(I just thought of the 'Schoolhouse Rock' song about the number 3: "A man and a woman had a little baby, yes they did. There was 3-eee-eee in the family, that's a magic number." :) )

This sounds horribly like what happened to Victoria Climbie. She was so stressed living with her aunt and her horrible boyfriend, that she started wetting the bed. I think her body was found wrapped in plastic in the bath, which is where they'd been making her sleep. And not feeding her and burning her with cigarette ends I think unless I'm getting mixed up. But the bed-wetting seemed to be a significant part of what triggered the abuse. She was only about eight, poor lamb.

Rolfe.

So many, many "Evil Mastermind's" death contraptions were thwarted by Bond.

I think they should be properly tested.
.
"Do you expect me to confess, Goldfinger?"
"No, I expect you to die, Mr. Bond."
And then walks out of the room.
This so violates almost the very first precept of the Evil Overlord's things to not do...

No. Police don't charge someone with "alleged assault", they charge them with assault. Saying someone has been charged with assault is an easily provable fact, so there's no reason to stick an "alleged" in there if it's true that the person has been charged with assault.

Of course, saying someone has been charged with assault is very different from saying they actually committed assault. I think the writers of news articles like that just get so much into the habit of adding words like "alleged" and "claimed" to protect themselves from libel suits that they tend to use them even in places they're not actually needed.

SCOTT EVIL
But what if he escapes? Why don't
you just shoot him? What are you
waiting for?

DR. EVIL
I have a better idea. I'm going to
put him in an easily-escapable
situation involving an overly-
elaborate and exotic death.

SCOTT EVIL
Why don't you just shoot him now?
Here, I'll get a gun. We'll just
shoot him. Bang! Dead. Done.

DR. EVIL
One more peep out of you and you're
grounded. Let's begin.

It's a combination of things for me, from "I really dislike kids" to "I have more mental health issues than you can shake a stick at and I don't feel I am a responsible choice to be a parent" and a few other things as well. No amount of reasons seem to make me normal though -- I continue to be "weird" to a lot of people since I don't wanna pop 'em out.

But I figure we can't be any more weird than the people burying children alive :eye-poppi

At least my weird doesn't hurt anyone.

I love this term, just wanted to say that :D I had never heard it before, it just has a great ring to it.

My parents were also one-and-done. :)

...which makes it even weirder that they so often go the opposite direction by describing the criminal's actions as being done by the suspect: "the suspect fired the gun three times", "the suspect threw a large rock and then fled south on Willow Street", and such. What actually happened is that the criminal, also known as the perpetrator, did those things. The suspect is just somebody who is alleged to have been that criminal, but determining the accuracy of that identity is the whole point of the trial, so, by claiming that the suspect did what the criminal did, they're claiming knowledge of the outcome of a trial that hasn't been completed yet (and might not even have begun yet).

I don't know of any explanation for that but stupidity.
