I just got polled by the NRA!

Why should North Korea or Cuba decide whether we keep arms? Did Obama actually specifically say that he was going to let North Korea or Cuba decide whether we as a people get to keep firearms (If so, I want a source...).

Absolutely correct. If the NRA were performing a push poll campaign, surely there would be other reports of it, right?

(yes, I realize that last one is Daily Kos. But if Travis made it up, as you suggest, a lot of other people are also making it up too. What would Occam say?)

It would appear they've just reworded it by specifically naming North Korea and Cuba instead of ambiguous "3rd World Dictators."

John Lott? You actually quoted John Lott? His data have been proven to be manufactured and he is a discredited voice in the area of gun control.
That's like me quoting Mugabe on the issue of human rights.

What was not factual in the quote I posted?

The hilted text is the equivalent of saying someone is a discredited voice in the area of debunking 911 woo.

Would it have mattered to you if they said Ahmadinejad and Chávez? Surely you would have found something about their regimes that you wish the U.S. could adopt.

...because those who reject the ERA's paranoid conspiracy theory necessarily admire Ahmadinejad and Chávez?

That's stretching a bit even for you.

I believe Nazi Germany was very progressive for its time on the issue of combating smoking. I have no idea what you think that proves.

I think it's highly likely that with enough research you could find at least one policy from Ahmadinejad or Chávez that the resident lefties would agree with at least in principle, and at least one policy from Ahmadinejad or Chávez that the resident Republican cheerleaders would agree with at least in principle. That's why we have the handy pejorative term "cherry-picking" to describe that sort of thought process.

If we can drop the UN paranoia for just a moment :boggled: and move on to a more advanced form of paranoia... :duck:

Do we know for sure that the NRA actually was behind this phone call, rather than some other group [cough] Brady [/cough] with an interest in making the NRA look stupid? Not that it always needs the help, mind you, but they're usually not that ham-handed.

Caller ID on my phone said NRA. The lady identified herself as representing the NRA. If it was someone else they apparently went to some lengths to do so.

I read the first paragraph. All three sentences are wrong. I quit reading.

Perhaps you could offer your services to the U.N. General Assembly, after you first familiarize yourself with GA/DIS?3379

"Prevent, combat, and eradicate the Illicit Trade in small arms and Light Weapons in All Aspects," John R. Lott Jr.

"Brazil supported the establishment of a legally binding instrument to address the illicit brokering of small arms and light weapons."
General Assembly
GA/DIS/3379

You are indeed. How can anyone who is pointing out that "gun control" laws are not a deterrent to crime, or that 911 is not a Bush/Israel/Media conspiracy, be a discredited voice ? Who are these credible voices advocating the benefits of "gun control" or that 911 was a Bush/Israel/Media conspiracy?

I can't say I've got much time for organisations that engage in that kind of petty fraud.
Don't worry, Kevin, the NRA has no time for the likes of you, as you live in, per your Avatar, Queensland.

No phone call for you.

Lucky man.

Um, notice the word ILLICIT. Buying a gun at a gun store or gun show when the laws of your nation specifically allow you to buy said weapon, in fact your nation's constitution protects that right hardly qualifies as illicit.

It seems that Cicero is an unflagging advocate of the sale and trade of illicit weapons.

Hey, S.F. considers licit weapons illicit. What exactly are "illicit" small arms?

Proposition H: "restrict handgun possession among San Francisco residents within city limits to police and certain security professionals, and to ban the manufacture, distribution, sale and transfer of firearms and ammunition within the city."

I'll tell you what. You USians sort out for yourselves whether you want handguns to be legal wherever, and then the UN will help you enforce whatever laws you settle on. Sound good?

What's that got to do with the U.N.?

Or with your advocacy of illicit weapons?
