When you consider the fact that most major UN military actions have relied on the US for nearly all of their troops, the UN invading and overthrowing the US would be quite a feat.

Don't count the Ugandan Amphibious Assault force out too easily. They'll be opening the way for the São Tomé and Príncipe armored corps.

I support the NRA's efforts to maintain private gun ownership.
I also support their gun safety and education programs.

It is just unfortunate that they feel the need to dip into the crazy pool so often.

So, no actual evidence of your claim, then, that the UN is trying to take away Americans' guns? The UN is far from perfect, but that doesn't mean it is automaticly guilty of every crazy conspiracy people want to accuse them of.

Now then, I've provided a Snopes article debunking the claim that any such UN effort exists. The UN document you provided showed the opposite of what you claimed. So what, then, do you base this belief on? Do you even still believe that the UN is trying to work around the Second Amendment in light of the information provided in this thread?

To say the UN is an inefficent, often inept organization in which a large number of UN officials seem to be feathering their own nests is a valid position which,sadly, I have to agree with.
To say the UN poses a real threat to ANY American liberties is Batcrap Crazy.

I remember during the Militia Madness of the 1990's there were heavy duty rumors about how the UN was hiding Gurkhas in the National Forests for the Takeover. A few of the more militant Miltia groups announced they were going to go into the forest to find and kick out the Ghurkhas.
The Miltia Morons agains the Ghurkhas, some of the best infantry in the world. That would have lasted about five seconds.

No, it's just part of how the organization is run. We try to keep it comfortable for everyone, not just one side of the political aisle. Hence, one of our directives is "Make no reference to any politician that hasn't been dead for at least 200 years."

All-volunteer group, but very professional. Our classes are extremely calm and friendly. Yet we still put a lot of lead downrange, and nearly all of it on target.

ETA: And nobody walks around on our line with loaded rifles. We run a cold line, and a tight ship. (I know it was a joke, but just in case...)
