I told you guys in my first post in this thread that I am open to be convinced by you. No doubt this is going to happen in post #8925.
Our likely next prime minister Mark Rutte has said that freedom of speech is of paramount importance
and that even includes H-word denial (he mentioned H-word denial explicitly).
He later backtracked a bit by saying that 'if some silly professor has a theory than he should not be prosecuted as long as he is not offensive'.
As far as I know nobody has been prosecuted in Holland. Moreover this is an English language forum, not a Dutch one with the server located in America (I assume).
Nevertheless, here is my official position:
- A state should be concerned with building roads and bridges, proteting property rights, a state however does not own history. History, certainly 65 years later after the (alledged) event, should be open to free research and debate.
- The greatness of European Civilization is based on free inquiry; there should always be room for 'new Galileo's', so to speak.
- I admit I play the devil's advocate. I know that my opponents are all believers so, just like in a real trial I play the advocate of the accused (the Germans). I see this thread as a sort of a mock trial, just to see how far the revisionist argument goes.
- My position on the H-word is: I have grave doubt. I have listened to the arguments of my opponents here and I am not convinced. I am perplexed with the absence of physical evidence. Not a single photo of people being gassed. Even
Jan van Pelt admits that
'Ninety-nine per cent of what we know we do not actually have the physical evidence to prove . . . it has become part of our inherited knowledge. That's not a very encouraging statement from one of the most prominent defenders of orthodoxy to blindly accept the claims of the orthodoxists.
- Do I say that I know for certain that never people were gassed? No, I don't say that. To begin with this thread is not over yet. Maybe it will never be over.
- Every revisionist will confirm that a great desaster happened to the Jews. Hundreds of thousands were killed, either in camps by extreme hard labour, in ghetto's or by shootings in the East after being deported from their homes. This is not to be minimized, justified or mocked at. The subject of the debate here is what precisely happened in the camps. There is a vast amount of revisionist literature that claims that gassings never took place. I want to hear their arguments. I want to use their arguments.

I have already given a clear criterium to decide if the holocaust happened or not: assemble a team of revisionists and exterminationists. Go to Treblinka with ground penetrating radar equipment and decide in a simple experiment if there were once huge mass graves or not. This test has been carried out once before and the results were negative, greatly adding to my skepcis. My opponents are justified in asking for a report, that has never been completed. So: if it were to be proven that on the grounds of Treblinka there once was a mass grave that contained 850,000 people then I unequivocally accept that the H-word happened. But not before.
