Examples of U.S. Soverign Citizen (Freeman on the Land) Failures

oops

And a Freeman (or so it sounds like) accidentally kills himself..

The barely-recognizable remains of a human were found after a car fire in the parking garage at the Pelican Cove condominiums, 16960 Algonquin Street on May 31, according to the coroner's office.

"It was burned beyond recognition," Huntington Beach police Lt. John Domingo said. Coroners identified Purcey using dental records.

According to his web site, Purcey was a Marine -- a Vietnam veteran -- with three grandchildren and a brother. He also published a book entitled "Am I the Only American Who Thinks This Way?" which features a photo of an American flag flown upside down on its cover.

Among other things, Purcey maintains that Americans do not have to pay off their mortgages, pay taxes, obtain drivers licenses, or

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to how many 'odd thinking' people might be out there in the USA.....thinking we have admiralty courts, owned by the Queen, the US government is a 'foreign corporation' etc? what 5% of the population or way less than 1%?

Oh and for some more comedy

That one should go under the "FOTL in the UK" thread, as this seems to be a British-made tinfoil hat.
It's definitely Stundie-grade kookery if nothing else.

Being a libertarian, I don't think we should be arresting people for "drugs" that they take of their own free will and as long as they take them in an environment where the only possible harm they can cause is to themselves. However, even though I don't personally think this should be illegal, it illustrates that FOTL ideology is simply wrong: in most US states, marijuana possession is illegal. Consent is NOT required to enforce this statute law, and if caught people using it WILL be punished REGARDLESS of FOTL legal rituals. Indeed, using FOTL rituals might make things worse.

Damn straight. Very recently, I was ordered by the court to sign an Undertaking to cease my use of cannabis (and any other illegal substances, which is by-the-by because I don't use any other illegal substances). The undertaking was ordered because my ex says my use of cannabis impacts on my ability to care for our child. I don't for a second believe it did, but I kept my mouth shut and signed the undertaking and have abided by it. If I'd started spouting this specious codswallop to the judge I was in front of, I'd now be looking at never seeing my little girl again, and I wouldn't have been surprised to find myself facing charges for contempt. Spouting this kind of crapola will only harm your case, never help it.

How much time and effort has he put into that lot?
He would have been better employed putting a proper defence or mitigation together.

In his long winded 'speech'

He notes the following

I am not a citizen of the United States
I am not a resident of the United States
I do not reside in California
I am not registered to vote
I do not have a drivers license
I do not have any motor vehicles in my name
I do not pay state or federal taxes

Well it would seem he's admitted to being an 'illegal alien' who doesn't pay tax.

I suspect we'll not hear from this dude again

Although not strictly a failure....yet, I think we can predict which way this criminal case will go.

But...but...that's just gibberish!
It's just pulling random snippets of legal stuff they've picked up and tying them together into...well...a mess.

I mean, the whole genealogy thing...

I didn't get much beyond that...stunned.

Now I know why I've been trying to avoid the whole FOTL thing...my head hurts now.

Note how the OP asks if his elaborate Notice "will have any effect and stop "them" from going any further".
Er I would suggest not:D

That one's absolutely shocking - a car crash approach to criminal litigation. Fortunately someone has attempted to steer the poor sap in the right direction :D

Note the more vocal Freemen on that forum haven't replied to that particular post. Even they can see he's well on his way to a stretch of porridge sooner rather than later with his current strategy.

I see it's been nine days since the thread's resident FOTL spokesman has posted in this thread. He's not suspended and his last activity was only a few hours ago, so I can only assume that like Sir Robin of old he has bravely run away. Looks like he's not too interested in contracting with people who ask questions.

Here's some more "Freemen" fun, this time with stealing houses!

The latest Patriot scam: Move into foreclosed homes, squat and claim them as your own

Seminars of this type usually teach that each person has a real self and a “corporate self” that is a fabrication of the government, and that banks cannot legitimately lend money that belongs to their depositors.

“It’s mumbo jumbo; it’s magic words; it’s abracadabra,” Ms. MacNab said.

They may tie up the courts for a while, but I don't think their prospects for winning are very good.

worried

I'm worried one of my wife's friend's husband will get into this. She just retired and her husband is about 10 years older, has health issues (he's obese and diabetic) and he sits at home all day reading the web. Apparently he's getting into a lot of far right wing doomsday websites and has starting talking about how "the balloon is going up" and they need to pull all their money out of banks, buy gold, etc, etc. She can't drag him away from the computer, that's all he wants to do all day. He won't even come out to have lunch with his own wife. He just sits and reads and stews. The wife was planning on a nice retirement: they have a nice small farm, horses, like to travel, etc. That doesn't seem likely now as things stand.

There's some obvious signs here of things like depression, etc. My immediate worry is that the husband will go from "buy gold" and buy into the entire paranoid worldview and risk their home and farm on some anti-tax nut scheme. I'm thinking I might want to pass her some info about the "Freeman" and anti-tax loons. thoughts?

(and my wife has already suggested she get him to a doctor for a checkup)

About the only thing that comes to mind immediately is a little bit of "tweaking" of the computer's settings. With Windows there are loads of ways to get a computer to fail to start, run reliably, or even connect to the internet. A few entries in "C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" would silently and mysteriously render a bunch of websites unavailable.

...thus making his paranoia that much stronger.

I'd suggest she ask him if he thinks divorce lawyers are "in on it" too.

Quite a few FOTL types have a routine where they claim they are Citizens of a specific State, not a US Citizen, and therefore not subject to federal law, but this guy goes further then that.

I wonder how many non-US citizens have tried that one when threatened with deportation to e.g. Mexico. :D
