How do you know whether any of this is true, quixotecoyote?

How do you know the opposite is true?

The only way we'll know is after an investigation.

Has your skepticism really evaporated so completely that you haven't noticed that all narratives except the one the Israeli government wants to establish have been blacked out?
And you only seem to accept the narrative of the activists.

Like that woman hiding in the bathroom. I'm sure she saw everything from there.

Yes, she was nursing her one-year old, who got to experience first-hand the joys of running a naval blockade, complete with marines storming the ship and hand-to-hand combat between soldiers and extremists. Then mother and child probably had a really good time as mommy was detained, probably in handcuffs, by big men with guns and masks. Pity the little one won't remember any of it when she grows up. Would've made for such a fond memory.

:sick to the stomach:

is this true?

i have seen it here on all stations i watched, private and public TV

Well all I can say is that none of those videos showed up on the MSM *news* websites in their entirety or anything close to entirety. Small bits from one or the other were shown during the MSM news broadcasts but always in the following manner.

For example, here, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/37446016#37446016 , you see the leftist MSNBC *news*staff defending the palestinians who incited this, doubting the Israeli statements about what happened, and acting like they've not seen any of these videos which answered ALL the questions that they asked the Israeli guest. The MSNBC media talking head regurgitates the allegation that Israeli's opened fire on an unarmed ship even though the videos are out there showing that is not what happened at all. "Morning Joe", in the way he phrases questions, does everything he can to make the Palestinians the victims and the Israelis the bad guys. The MSM is simply disgusting in it's pro-palestinian, anti-Israeli bias.

Here, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/37446016#37446016 , you see Chris Mathews doing the same thing. Totally misrepresenting what the people on those ships were, how the Israelis responded and not showing enough of the videos to give the complete picture of what actually happened. In fact, Chris Matthews asks a Washington Post reporter what the "best description of what happened on the deck of that ship". She responds that "amazingly, Chris, even 48 hours after the whole incident we don't have a definitive picture of what happened". Sorry, but I think those videos are rather definitive. Then she goes on to describe what the "activists" claim (while displaying tiny hard to see clips from one of the Israeli videos in the backgroud). To her credit, she does mention the videos show the commandos being attacked the moment they hit the deck with "metal and wood rods" and "other kinds of weapons". But then Mathews asks if there is something "deceptive" about what is being shown in the background and then doesn't let the *reporter* respond. Instead he goes on to say "What do you think is the main criticism of Israel in this regard, if there is such a thing as an objective observer?" (Like that was an "objective" question in the first place.) And the woman replies "Israel is obviously facing a lot of criticism for the way they carried out this operation". Really? Only from the left and terrorist supporters. And then goes on to suggest there must be a better way to maintain Israel's blockade of Gaza (without actually suggesting an alternative). No mention of the warning that the ship was given in the other video, or the invitation to a certain port. No mention of the terrorist organization behind the ship, *activists* and cargo. No, all MSNBC had time to do was fault Israel. I'm not impressed with the MSNBC's reporting.

Here, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/37446016#37447425 , the MSNBC talking heads with Andrea Mitchell (an Obama idolizing leftist) again attack Israel's actions by regurgitating ONLY what the Turks, Palestinians, "activists" and leftists around the world are saying, without telling Israel's side of the story or describing in accurate terms what those videos actually show (and again they only show small clips from them). In my opinion, there is no reason the MSNBC website can't carry or link people to the complete Israeli videos other than their not wanting to do so because it doesn't fit in with their political agenda … which is what they allowed Andrea Mitchell to spend most of the time spewing.

Then there is ABC's website. Again, no posting of the Israeli videos or links to them. It's almost as if ABCNews has no disk space for storing such material. Instead a single video, http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/attack-flotilla-kills-10794300 , focusing on the condemnation of Israel rather than what the Israeli videos show. The condemnation is more important than the facts of what happened, I guess. And while this video mentions the people "behind" the latest attempt to break Israel's blockade (that they are promising more ships), there is no mention of their being a terrorist organization, even according to the US State Department, as I noted in an earlier post. What unbiased reporting. :sarcasm:

You get the picture?

How do you know the opposite is true?

The only way we'll know is after an investigation.

That will of course help provide details, but right now we can come to a (as always) tentative position with the evidence available, such as the video showing the soldiers being attacked immediately after dropping on the boat, the lack of violence on the boats where the activists did not use violence, and the restraint that tends to be used by the Israeli military with civilians.

"The Free Gaza Movement, one of the organisers of the flotilla, pledged a new attempt to run the embargo on Gaza. Audrey Bomse, a spokeswoman for the group, said the MV Rachel Corrie could reach Gaza “in the next four days”. The ship is owned by the Irish Free Gaza movement and carrying a number of Irish citizens, and Dublin called on Israel to allow it to deliver its cargo unimpeded."

Rachel Corrie goes before the IDF again. I hope the results are different this time.

whats wrong with a "Free Palestine" banner?
Acording to the Palestinian Charter Palestine will be liberated when Israel is destroyed.

Thus, "Free Palestine" = no more Israel.

The chant of "Palestine will be free from the river to the sea" makes it even more clear.

Are you really simulating false understanding about this, or you can't see that they say Zionism and not the State of Israel?
Tell me how you "destroy the Zionist presence" while Israel remains?

:sick to the stomach:

Sick to my stomach that a mother would bring her infant on such a mission.

I don't pick sides on the Israel/Palestine thing here, I just read the threads sometimes. Given the evidence available, and containing the argument to this single incident only, I would say the activists provoked the actions of the IDF.

That's all, I'll go back to lurking now.

Ummmm.....well.....

Of course I didn't but I missed the part about destroying Israel.

Then I quote for you

The partition of Palestine in 1947 and the establishment of the state of Israel are entirely illegal

You have to conclude from the language of the charter that the restoration of Palestine cannot occur without the destruction of Israel, because it is true that the charter doesn't actually say they want the destruction of Israel.

But since Israel is entirely within the boundaries of the British Palestinian territory, well you can get the picture, can't you.

Gaza flotilla raid: 'We heard gunfire – then our ship turned into lake of blood'

Activists aboard Mavi Marmara speak of shock at rapid attacks and deny assaults on Israeli commandos

Extract:

Iara Lee, a Brazilian filmmaker who was also on board the Mavi Marmara, claimed the Israeli troops had invaded the ship after cutting all communications and "started shooting at people". She spoke to Brazil's TV Globo from the prison in southern Israel where an estimated 600 foreign activists, including around 40 Britons, were being held. Israeli officials said tonight that they would all be freed immediately.

Lee said: "[The attack] was a surprise, because it happened in the middle of the night, in the darkness, in international waters, because we knew there would be a confrontation but not in international waters. Their first tactic was to cut all of our satellite communications and then they attacked. All I witnessed first hand was the shooting. They came onboard and started shooting at people."

She said the commandos then sent the women to a lower level of the ship.

"They said we were terrorists – it was absurd. They came into the part where the women were, lots and lots of them, dressed in black and with gigantic weapons as if they were in a war. They confiscated all of our telephones and all of our luggage and took everything out of the bags and put it on the floor."

"We expected them to shoot people in the legs, to shoot in the air, just to scare people, but they were direct," she said, in a separate interview with the Folha de São Paulo newspaper. "Some of them shot in the passengers' heads. Many people were murdered – it was unimaginable."

I don't know what media you are watching/listening to/reading.

But I am getting a lot more than just the Israeli government narrative. In fact I am finding that the Israeli government narrative is getting somewhat short shrift on much of the media.

I have watched CNN, Fox, AlJazeera and our local Australian news services and local newspapers, getting a fairly broad idea of the different narratives provided. AlJazeera gives the Israeli government line, but always with a skeptical comment tacked on the back.

I am waiting for the journalists on board the flotilla to be released to hear their version of events.

:sick to the stomach:

It is sick that a mother would use her own child for political cache in such a manner, even sicker is how well it seemed to work.
All criminals should just start carrying around babies, then they're completely unassailable, THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
