Arizona to cut LA's power over boycott?

I guess we could just sit back and wait for Arizona to actually start building death camps for all the non-whites there. And don't pretend they aren't salivating over the possibility of total ethnic genocide. I can only go by what I saw last time I was there which was more concentrated racism than I had ever encountered before.....granted I've grown up in California.

So don't pretend there isn't some sort of context that this perception of racism is coming out from.

Being hawaiian and darker than just about any mexican, I constantly have sherrif joe chasing me with helicopters and getting pulled over for driving while brown

Since everyone knows theres less racism in small towns I moved to wickenburg, where they burn crosses on my lawn every night

Oh wait, no, that's right...you're full of total crap

I've lived in Arizona most of my life and I am not white. I think this supposed racism is almost entirely made up by people like you. I've certainly never encountered it in roughly 15 years of living there.

The Colorado River is on the border between California and Arizona. The only way Arizona could cut LA off is to poison the water supply since they aren't in control of the facilities on the California side of the river.

Well, it actually flows through Arizona and then along the Arizona/Nevada border before it forms the Arizona/California border.

I read this post twice before noticing that it wasn't a Parky76/Palistine-Israel post.

See, now? I knew that. This is why The Big SkyDaddy gives us maps, I always say.

Travis - My 3 most racist recollections......
I was in Louisiana in the 50s and 60s, South Africa right after the Soweto "riots", and Little Italy any number of times. I've been through Arizona a couple of times with mixed-race groups, and I've never found it as racist as any of the three I mentioned in my first sentence.
((I have, by the way, been in much more "conservative" locations. Conservatism and Racism are not synonymous. ))

Is it a conservative state? Yes.
Are all conservatives hateful lawn party attending, martini sipping, whitebread eating, croquet mallet wielding fiends? Well, yes.... but that doesn't mean they're any more racist than the rest of the USA.
Is there possibly a racist element in there? Sure.
But was that the intent of the framers of the statue? I don't believe so.
Is the law, as written, open to abuse? Yes.
Is law enforcement to be entrusted with such a tool? Not likely.

But... Even with my noted left-leaning, ACLU supporting, pot-smoking, peace symbol wearing, draft-dodging tendencies, I wouldn't want to go for a throwback to the ongoing pitched-battle desegregation era of thse 60s,... as much as I may remember it fondly.

Let's take the fight where the fight needs to be taken. Tarring a whole state (or country) with the sort of accusations that are being bandied about is just plain dangerous. Talk about disengaging the opposition! We're making it so we can't even talk politics with any civility, whatsoever!

Wow. Way to set the bar low; when the death camps fail to appear you will be cited as one of those who exaggerated ridiculously the problem.

Thank god or some other deity or inanimate philosophy that somehow the Southern Californians are still around to instruct us on life.

My best friend in childhood was of Mexican descent. His dad would always tell people he was Hawaiian, just for kicks. A lot of people believed him!

Anybody else notice that the frothing-at-the-mouth Librulz and atheists on this board don't even have a sense-of-humo(u)r surrogate?

Nah, we've just tired of the best of what the mouth breathing, knuckle dragging conservatives and bible bangers can come up with.

Your turn again.

"An Arizona utility commissioner said he's willing to pull the plug on Los Angeles if the city goes through with a boycott of his state. In a letter to the city of LA, a member of Arizona's power commission said he would ask Arizona utility companies to cut off the power supply to Los Angeles. LA gets about 25 percent of its power from Arizona.
"That is one commissioner who has that idea -- whether he can do that or not is another idea," said LA Councilman Dennis Zine. "They are the ones who have to make the move, not us."
The commissioner's power grid play is in response to the city's approval of a resolution directing city staff to consider which contracts with Arizona can be terminated."

That is what AZ resident John Wayne (R.I.P) would have done.

Big Brass ones.

Refreshing.

DDWW

BTW: Since boycotting marijuana coming through AZ, they have had to close three Doritos factories in LA, causing many lower middle class workers to loose their jobs!

If you say so.

I was going to continue my participation in this thread but this quote is so over-the-top that it single-handedly loses the argument for our side.

A few ways to look at this.

Possible message: Dear LA, don't start a fight you can't finish.

But all that kind of fun and games aside, the Colorado River resource allocation deal is up for renewal/renegotiation, with six states and Mexico in about 2017. I am pretty sure Mexico has their guns loaded on this one, given the ongoing scraps over the Rio Grande recently, and the Colorado on and off.

Also, snow melt data may show that everyone, along that river, gets less. Lake Mead has been dropping about 1% per year. If you've seen the movie "Leaving Las Vegas" it may become a curious reality very soon.

Put another way, the outcome of that potentially renders this scrap, in economic terms, irrelevant

They already have a death camp here in AZ where they send people to die.

It's called Sun City. (Or locally known as God's waiting room.)

cutting off electricity to California would be an act of war.

we don't really need Arizona...do we?

There was a spot reserved for you in the FEMA Death Camps, err, I mean the "Arizona You Might be Brown Therefore You Go To Jail Camps". But I suppose you get a free pass now, you pinko commie socialist hippie fascist.

But only for now. We're watching you. :eye-poppi

As opposed to admittedly malicious attempts to sabotage AZ's economy, which would not only shut off the power, but the food as well?
