Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Do you have any evidence you were born on earth and not transported here by aliens A birth certificate could be forged (Some say that is what happened with Obama). Your relatives could be lying to you. Do you have film of your actual birth. Even that could be a fake.

DOC, you should start putting an asterisk at the end of your posts pointing out which logical fallacy(ies) you are using. I would do it for you but you are the one who claims to have aced a logic course so, as easy as it is for everyone else to spot them, it should be a piece of cake for you.

So your best counter argument in support of the new testament writer's telling the truth is that Akhenaten could be an alien?

I think it's his best argument so far:boxedin:

And probably no one in here has (the average Christian does not have) an accurate understanding of the Jewish social culture of that time and how slaves and servants fit into that complex Roman/Jewish culture.

There, fixed it for you.

You calling my mother a liar?

The parable also says that those who didn't know they were breaking a rule, would still be beaten (just not as badly). How would you feel if your boss one day whipped you so that your flesh would be torn and bleeding. Afterwards, you found out it was because you hadn't responded to his memo that he didn't give you.

ETA:
I like the little Obama aside in your post. One wonders why you felt compelled to include it.

For some just one woo won't do.

Alright, I know I'm getting into this late, but really? The fact that the story has proper characterization and character development means that it must be true? Well jeeze, I'm going to start worshipping the works of J. D. Salinger.

In what way does the garbage that you've posted above address it?

Obviously, I was making a point that some things are impossible to prove, even your own birth on earth. But I guess some people didn't get that.

Oh I got that. I was highlighting what a stupid argument it was. In particular, I was pointing out that making sensational claims (someone raising from the dead) requires more evidence than a mundane claim (someone being born).

Got any evidence that the people who wrote that story were telling the truth, DOC?

Yes, it was written by gospel writer Luke. Luke is the person respected archaeologist Sir William M. Ramsay said was a great historian regarding things that can be proven by historical and archaeological evidence. Given that fact it is more likely than not this is what the man Jesus (whom most historians believe was a historical person) said.

MOST, I have to look that word up, I seem to think it means something else.

Paul

:) :) :)

So, the 'great majority' are wrong. If there is a word of known meaning that is being consistently translated as something else, that doesn't make those translations correct.

Look.

And joobz brought in a website where the second definition was servant. When a word has 2 definitions that means it has two definitions translators can choose from.
