Israeli extremists to burn Obama in effigy

its illegal to set fires in public. burning anyone in effigy, is such a fire.

should it be illegal to hang someone in effigy? IMHO..yes. i see it as a call for violence.
So this "threat" that you think burning something in effigy is really just a public safety threat because someone or something might get burned as a result? Go ahead and try to show that burning something in effigy is illegal, in the US or in Israel.

I'll ignore the strawman.

It depends on where the fire is.

People have historically burned things in protest all the time, and many times in this country. It's usually not been as a call to violence, and if it was, you would have a hard time proving it. Much like your posts in this thread.

Are we supposed to seriously believe that the reason this thread was started was that the OP was deeply concerned about burning in effigy being a fire hazard???

:confused::confused::confused:

Who the heck is going to buy that?

just to be clear

Your (poorly-phrased, to be fair) question asked McHrozni if he thought it was WRONG for laws to criminalize swastikas and Holocaust denial. You asked if he thought those laws were WRONG. He answered "Yep." In American slang, Yep means "yes." He thinks those laws are WRONG.

And now you are calling him a hypocrite and claiming that he's not a real American and that he says Holocaust denial should be a felony. What is wrong with you?

I am eager to hear Thunder's explanation for the above.

So you are agaiinst free speech and political opposition.

Joe Stalin was your kind of guy, he tolerated no dissent.

Talk about digging oneself into a hole.

When confronted with the fact that his "outrage" and demands for silencing those who burn political leaders in effigy is strictly restricted to Jews doing it, Parky says this isn't true and he is really equally outraged at anybody doing it and wants it to be illegal for anyone -- an obvious lie.

Then, when it is noted that, besides being an obvious lie, such behavior means one is against free speech and wants it banned, Parky pretends that, really, the only reason he is outraged at people burning political leaders in effigy is that it's a fire hazard...

I think I have a solution that makes everyone happy:

Won't work. For one thing usually the effigy is hanged before being burned, for another, if that was allowed, the original OP would whine that the racist Israeli extremists are hanging Obama in effigy just like the KKK used to do, and demand that be banned as well, although only when Jews do it.

if you burn someone in effigy in NYC, the NYPD will quickly put out the fire, as it is a fire hazard. its a convenient way of stopping morons from burning people in effigy, and I support it.

now, if one believe that you can burn someone in effigy, than surely one should also believe that publicly proclaiming that the Holocaust is a myth, surely should not a felony.

So I guess that burning a US flag in Gaza is just free speech too.

well, some seem to be suggesting that we should respect Hamas' right to burn the American flag, and use it as toilet paper, as a democratic symbol of free speech.

nothing wrong with Iranians using the American flag as a carpet. its just free speech. we should encourage such statements of political dissent. :)

I find this thread comical, especially seeing the lunacy of Parky at work double time. Don't wear him out to quickly....

its good to know that my fellow Americans believe that is all fine and dandy for the enemies of the USA to burn our leaders in effigy. it is simply a peaceful statement of political disagreement, not to be seen as a threat of any kind.

in support of the univeral concept of free expression, I suggest we mail life-like models of President Obama and Vice-President Biden, to China, Iran, Cuba, Afghanistan, Gaza, Russia, Venezuela, and all other nations filled with haters of the USA.

cheers all.

You have not shown that it *is* a threat.

If it makes you feel better, go burn one of their flags. You really need to drop the fire hazard stuff though. It's not a fire hazard everywhere, and you're confusing others with your main point.

Like most other disgusting "free speech", at least we know who our enemies are.

wait, you proclaim yourself to be a hero of freedom of speech, yet you believe that it should be a felony in Germany, Austria, and other countries, to deny the Holocaust???

boy..the hypocrisy is rancid today!!!

not surprised though. I always knew that you would think its okee dokee to burn an effigy of Obama...but not okay to publicly doubt the historical legitimacy of the Holocaust.

hypocrisy...indeed.
Wow, talk about seeing what you want to see!

Try reading my response again, read it slowly this time and with comprehension.

parky, I think that you are going to wear yourself out boxing these strawmen. Try reading this again for comprehension.

McHrozni thinks it's wrong to have laws against nazi speech, and you post this nonsense?

The authoritarianism of some liberals just blows me away.
It's actually my quote, not McHrozni's.

The point about parky/Thunder's lack of reading comprehension stands though.

Yep, you disagree? They can also do it in the US too if they want.

Now you're starting to catch on.
