Amanda Knox guilty - all because of a cartwheel

The area where the rock landed if it were thrown from outside is a little weird. I cannot think of any scenario where a rock that size flies through a glass window, damages the shutter to the extend it has. Only to have it bounce at a rather odd angle with all forward momentum gone to the ground but yet have enough force to knock over both the shoulder bag and paper bag.

Also, there appears to some rock slivers below the torn paper bag. If that's the case, it would also tell us that something strange is going on since the bulk of the stone is on top of the paper bag. How did those slivers end up there.
.
Beyond your observations, Amazer, there are further incongruencies with the defence's official explanation of the rock throwing.

Here are some overlayed photograms from the Sollecito rock expert. You see how the rock is thrown, and in fact in photogram 4 you see the hands which have come up to give the rock its desired launch and parabola.

The next image (below) which is not from the case, shows the posture and followthrough required to launch the rock as per the Sollecito tests.

Now the problem is that there is no ground, only empty space in front of Filomena's window. If the person who throughs the rock does so from the car parking platform, there's a fence in the way. Of course, the thrower could scramble over the fence, be perched on the threshold of they abyss, hang on to the fence with one hand behind his back, and do the underhand bowling through with the other, but that's really asking too much, especially when this scene would be in full, illuminated view of the neighbours and passers-by:

Another option is that the Sollecito-Knox fantasy intruder throw the rock shot-put style, but that would give it different flight characteristics from the defence expert test. As well, I would think that it would be imprecise, and there are no marks on the outer wall from "missed" rock launchings, nor rocks accumulated below from these missed attempts.

So, assuming somethow the window's glass pane was broken, now the intruder climbs up. To do so he has to run all the way around the house, to get to the lower level. The iron grating of the lower boys' floor window only allowed a Sollecito team lawyer to get to touch the window sill at the bottom of Filomena's window.

His feet are perched uncomfortably on the iron grate. Only one of his feet is taking weight (the other , his left foot, is jammed in a narrow space, twisted at an angle)

His hands touch the window sill, which sticks out a centimetre or two. Since the window sill sheds water from the window area, it is at a slightly downward sloping angle. The only real grip on the sill is a pinching grip, thumb below and index finger on top. There is no real friction gripping for the feet on the vertical wall. Maybe an expert rock climber could go higher.

There are not many "drifters" who are "drug dealers" (FOA and Knox Entourage descriptions of Rudy) who could do that. I rock climbed in a former life, and I would not be able to haul myself up to the window.

How to get through the window is the next question:

There's much more, but just with this fast glance at the problems associated with breaking in to the cottage from Fiomena's window, we should be able to put the issue to rest, especially when we know that the express lane access for burglars into the cottage is through the discrete privacy of the balcony on the other side of the house, which Rudy was familiar with.

There would be glass on the window ledge regardless of the direction of impact.

the judges reasoned that the window must have been broken from the inside because no glass was found outside.
but there is glass on the window ledge (the outer part). how is that possible?

And as tour asking this, it is also one of the 'main' reasons Judge Massei concludes the break-in was faked. As you have said, there was glass all over the ledge but none outside. He concluded that anyone climbing up onto that ledge would have had to have knocked glass off it. None was knocked off, it's undisturbed, ergo the break-in was staged.

Glass on the ledge:

so they smashed the window from two directions, once facing outside, and by doing so the glass hit the shutters and fell on the window ledge and once facing inside the room. hmmm...ok.

I could be imagining things, but judging from that photo it looks like there is enough space between shutters and the window proper to allow some of the glass from the window to fall on the ledge. And the edge of the closed shutters seems to be the border of the expansion of the glass.
I'm also a bit curious about how Rudy would have prevented the smashed pieces of glass from cutting his fingers when he swung himself upward to the window. Because I see no reasonable way how he could have cleaned up the ledge (while leaving that glass in the documented position).

It does look like a very difficult space to haul yourself into. Without the glass and at full stretch I suppose it might be possible to reach the inside lip of the window ledge and haul yourself up and in. With the glass I struggle to see how this could be done without either serious injury, or sending glass falling down to the ground below.

Visualizing this I'm reminded of the scene in the lift shaft from Die Hard where Bruce Willis hauls himself into a tiny air duct.

No, the window was partly open when it was broken (opens inwards), causing some of the glass to fall onto the sill and ledge and some to fall into the room and onto the clothing.

yes, they had to open the window first of all.
the thing is there is a lot of glass wide into the room and also quite a lot on the window ledge.

I thought they could have broken the window from the inside, and had a blanket or shirt underneath to catch the fallen shards of glass, then they scattered the shards on the sill, and around the room to look like the window was broken from outside.

After breaking the window they probably ended up kicking some of the glass (and items glass was on) around as they moved about.

Well I was prepared to do a little practical experiments with bra clasps: but I am not breaking my windows for you all: so don't ask ;)

I actually show two places where Rudy stepped on the clothes. When he does so, he leaves dust from the outside wall on the clothes.

I've had a look at the pictures that you have provided on your website. And I do have a few observations.

If you will look at the photos again you will see that it is a very small space. The rock actually doesn't travel far. It hits the shutter and falls downward. The black paper bag is caused to move forward from the motion of the rock. The crumbled portion of the stone is at the very edge of the bag. The rock made contact with the floor as the bag and the rock were still moving.

There is actually far less glass on the window sill than everybody always talks about. It is one of those things, if you say it enough, it becomes the truth.

Please look at the photographs on my site. they are much better quality that the photo posted here. The glass was on one side of the ledge. Rudy had a history of climbing in windows. I know people ignore that fact. Think about the same scenario but put gloves and a coat on Rudy. How does he hurt himself on that small amount of glass laying flat on the ledge? We are led to believe by many posters that there are extremely large shards of glass protruding off of the ledge preventing entrance. This is simply not the case. The rather small amount of glass is laying flat on the ledge. Rudy could have easily used the side of the ledge with no glass on it to pull himself up. With one motion, he could have pulled himself through the window. Keep in mind, if he was using the other side of the ledge to pull himself through, he would have actually pushed glass forward toward the room, not outside toward the ground.

I would also be happy to see the high resolution photographs of the ground showing all of that glass that was said to be there.

While were ate it, let's look at the photographs showing all of that glass on the top of the clothes.

If anyone has the photographs mentioned above, please post them.

There is actually not as much glass on the ledge as we are all led to believe. Put gloves and a coat on Rudy and all of your questions are answered.

The truth is, we will never know exactly what happened. With all of the conversation regarding the window, has anyone ever noticed that there is not one piece of evidence that can possibly be discussed that proves that Amanda or Raffaele has anything whatsoever to do with that broken window?

@Bruce Fisher:

Your theory that RG ransacked Filomena's room is unsupported by any evidence. It is a well-known FOA meme that Rudy left evidence of his presence "everywhere" at the cottage.

But he didn't.

He left no evidence of his presence whatsoever in Filomena's room.

Your hypothesis is the first time I've heard someone suggest that Filomena essentially trashed her own room. Maybe she shattered her own window with a rock, too. If it hasn't been explicitly ruled out then that should be investigated. Right?

Nobody has ever been able to demonstrate, regardless of which way the window was broken, how anyone could enter the cottage that way without leaving some evidence of having done so. Maybe you will be the first. If you can, then I'll bet there's a job for you as a burglary expert for the defence.

Please take a look at the photographs on my site. I never said that Filomena trashed her own room. I said that the room was a mess to begin with. Filomena wasn't that tidy. If you take a look at her table and nightstand you will see this. The clothing was on the floor from the beginning. If you look at the armoire from another angle, you will see that it still has clothing in it. The clothes on the floor were not pulled out off the armoire. They were on the floor the entire time. I show how that these clothes were stepped on when Rudy entered the room.
