Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

And you are possibly correct. I'm in the minority position simply because 90% of biblical scholars, including Erhman take Jesus' existence as the default position before they start their research. Some cannot find a historical Jeebus anywhere, but nevertheless come away with a Jesus as historical fact position.
Based on, in my opinion, dubious readings of the gospels.

From Wiki is these facts as well.

Scholarly perspectives notwithstanding, research indicates that the Christ myth theory enjoys notable support within the general population. A 2005 study conducted by Baylor University found that 1% of Americans in general and 13.7% of religiously unaffiliated Americans in particular believe that Jesus is "a fictional character".[140] A 2008 ComRes survey discovered that 13% of the British population likewise believe that "Jesus never existed", a number that jumps to 40% when only atheists are considered.[141] A similar study administered by McCrindle Research in 2009 found that 11% of Australians doubt that Jesus was a historical figure.[142]
amb, It's all good. I wasn't saying that you're wrong, but that the majority of the scholars who study this disagree. Since there isn't concrete evidence one way or t'other there's no foul.

Now, if you were to say that Malaclypse the Elder didn't exist, I'd have to ask you to step outside! :p

With just a mustard seed of faith could it be possible that DOC could pray to get the mountain-free, 12,000th post?

:D

I agree there doesn't seem to be any independent evidence either way. It does seem more likely to me that there was some kernel of truth to which the myths attached themselves, that there was an itinerant preacher who may have said some of the things attributed to the biblical Jesus, rather than that the whole thing was created from nothing (whether intentionally or through some sequence of misunderstandings, or whatever). However, I don't personally rule the latter option out.

He may need more than faith. Inconvenient time zones and nimble fingers are powerful opponents.
Lessee, it's 0848, where I'm at (Z-1348), and we need 34 more posts to get to 12,000.

One a minute would get us to 1422....can we do it?

C'mon people, we got another 30 posts to go.

Pharoah, do you have a nifty picture to commemerate this historic event?

I was wondering if the 300th page warranted commemoration, but of course that's a more arbitrary milestone since the number of posts per page is configurable.

I can't believe you guys are trying to ramp up the post count in this thread simply to get to 12,000.

But, according to DOC, the number of posts in this thread is evidence.
Of what, nobody is really sure; but DOC seems to think that it lends weight to his hypothesis.

So, by increasing the post count, we are indirectly providing evidence that the New Testament writers must have been right!

Well, it works for DOC.
(It would explain his meandering...)
