Racism in Australia

So are there any Australians out there that are prepared to offer an opinion on why they agree or disagree with the facts stated in the ANTAR website and also prepared to back that up with their own facts rather than just seeing this as a thread to "Antagonise" Australians and offering that as some sort of excuse??

Perhaps you should choose the issue that you think is most important and have us discuss that.

Let's just start with one of these "facts" okay. I think this is about the 4th or 5th time you've been asked.
If you want some opinions, show us what you would like to discuss, show us some evidence and then we can talk. If not. perhaps you should do a little more research yourself rather than simply produce some inflammatory information from the website of activists. Hmmm.:)

if you only would place that much weight on evidence in your AGW denial posts.

I think DC's 'retired' gents.

We're waiting for gerg now.

Hopefully he will actually find something to discuss this time.:D

Well what do the Aboriginals think? Are they comfortable with being called "Australians" or "Aboriginals/Aboriginees" for that matter? Perhaps they're perfectly fine with it but I'm not sure at this point hence the quote marks.
The preferred phrase is "Indigenous Australians".

Should there be a Constitutional change to include a Human Rights Act in the Australian Constitution? one of ANTAR desire's

To what end?
In other words, what needs to be fixed, how and why?

to further close the gap between Indigenous Australians and Australians
like ANTAR is pointing out, health, prison etc.

how ? i dunno. thats up to the Australian people.

but does your answer mean, there is no need for it?

Not at all, but I don't think that some unnamed, unspecified vague "human rights" amendment to the constitution will amswer those problems anyway. So I would ask again:

Specifically...

you are the one from Australia, do you see problems that needs fixing?
based on the way most Australians answer here, i must conclude ANTAR and the UN totaly lied and there are absolutely no problems.....

is this the case?

There is not a need for a Human Rights ammendment to the Australian Constitution. This has been debated before, when there was talk about a new constitution

The reason - we are currently a fully signed member to all the UN Human Rights Treaties. So in a sense we use that as a bolt on for our constitution.

So why do we do that. In the Westminster System, having a constitution spelt out in the broadest terms, gives the document the greatest flexibility and strength. Because (In our eyes) once you begin spelling out specific rights, you limit rights at the same time. This is one of the reasons Great Britian has never written her constitution down, and she has been under the Westminster system for some 400 years
