Drinking Skeptically at TAM 8

BTW, last year's gathering was at the Silverado bc no one knew that the Del Mar would become the "go-to" gathering spot. Kinda tough to know that in advance, what are we...psychic?!

Now that you know, why not just have it at the Del Mar. That way, there's nothing to organize. Everyone shows up there by default. No work for you!
 
Actually, I can see the point of having one, in order to promote the idea of DS events, in general. Maybe someone will say "Hey! There's no DS around where I live. Maybe I should start one!!" So, other than some promotional materials, there is no need to make it more complicated than "Del Mar".

Where are these announced/discussed? After a cursory search, I only saw a reference to one in this subforum.

Okay, so set it up in a corner of the Del Mar, but have a cordon of Skeptics of Unusual Size to keep out anyone without a DS badge.

Could be fun!

True, now we know Del Mar tended to be the main hangout. Nonetheless, I often found people at the Silverado as well (e.g. after the Ham/Talent Show event and before & after the Skepchick party). Last year I thought it was nice to have the DS event separate from the general hang out for those who wanted to attend and to promote DS groups. I moved between there & the Del Mar fairly easily--it isn't that far--and it was pretty nice that we ended up sort of taking over both ends of the floor. Oh, and I seem to recall that the beer offerings are a bit different in each of their bars, so it doesn't hurt to try them all. I still think it'd be worthwhile to hold a DS event as suggested by NY Skeptics--and CFI-DC DS folks would be happy to co-host. It'd be just a little more formal than the generic Del Mar gatherings, but not enough to put anyone off.

I plan to coordinate drinking another fishbowl full of alcohol & dry ice with Tobias again, of possible...
 
That's okay. I'd be willing to substitute a shot of tequila....
