I just can't make up my mind about Bill. There are times when I read one of his posts and think to myself, OK, no one could be that mentally subpar and still know how to work a keyboard, therefore he must be a deliberate troll. Then there are other times when his posts seem so sincerely clueless and without any obvious indications that he is trying to get a rise out of others that I decide he's probably just a slightly slow witted 12 year old trying to interact with the grownups. It's a real headache-inducing conundrum of the "Everything I say is a lie" sort that Captain Kirk used to trick evil computers into destroying themselves with on Star Trek.

Of course I could be committing the "either-or fallacy". We shouldn't rule out the possibility that he's simply a slow witted troll who sort of believes some of what he's saying but says all the other stuff to get some desperately needed attention.

I actually think this theory, or one very similar, was itself nominated for a Stundie in the not-too-distant past. I remember something about the person believing quantum mechanics were somehow required for the trigger and that they could only be detonated in certain places.

Yeah, we've had "nuclear bomb denier" nominations for a while now - I nominated one last January. But like Dave Rogers, what struck me as new and Stundie-worthy was the added justification.

Original enough (and deserving enough) to make the finals? That's Travis's headache, not mine! :p

Yes, I liked that as a classic piece of woo thinking - the belief that the mere existence of a theory lends that theory significant credibility. It's reminiscent of the 'unbroken chain of hypothesizing' one that made the finals recently.
