Things you like about Sarah Palin

What I like Sarah Palin is the reasons she drives the left nuts: she is more qualified than Obama . . . .

This particular statement needs to have a stake driven through its untrue little heart. Getting all your info from Fox News is not a sign of critical thinking.

I was surprised at how funny her payback on Shatner was when she appeared on Conan O'Brien. That's about the only nice thing I can think of to say about her.

I like her because she is more in tune with my life, values and experiences than either President Obama or President Bush. In areas where I disagree with her viewpoint I respect that she “walks the walk”, with her differences. She is a strong, smart women with lots of self confidence. The feminist should be proud of her successes.

I'll tell ya what I like about her.

She pretty much says what she thinks.
I dont agree with her on everything but I respect the fact she seems to speak her mind.

Which is a lot more than can be said for the vast majority of politicians from both major parties. Actually about 99% of all the bozos currently in the executive and legislative branches.

The thing I like best about Palin is that she hasn't got a snowball's chance of winning the GOP nomination.

Is there anyone defending her?

I think even people here on JREF who share *some* of her political beliefs struggle to explain away or treat as irrelevant many of her social and religious attitudes.

ETA: The only thing I have any respect at all for about Palin is that she is a distance runner.

Of course. Skeptic and Whiplash are the first two that come to mind but I'm sure there are more.

That would be a bad thing. I want nothing more then for her to get the GOP nod. It will guarantee Obama 4 more years.

That's funny!

Hyprocrisy for one thing. Sarah writes a couple of words on her hand ostensibly to keep track of what she's going to say while Pres. Obama brings a teleprompoter into a third grade class.
1.) She used notes to remember "energy, tax breaks, lift american spirits" in a Q&A session.
2.) Obama used a teleprompter to give a speech to the press not to give a speech to third graders.

And the irony is she mocked Obama for using a Teleprompter.

Also, she ridiculed a democrat for using "retard", but excused Limbaugh for the same exact thing...
Yes, she does expose hypocrisy, her own.

I'm inclined to believe that all the stuff about "shes our dream candidate, I hope she runs, it'll ensure us an Obama victory" is actually just bluster that is for their own benefit, not for anyone else. They seek to convince themselves of that. My reasoning? If they really believed what they were saying, they wouldn't also bend over backwards to insult and bring her down every single chance they can get. You don't bother with destroying someone who is absolutely no threat.

That would be a bad thing. I want nothing more then for her to get the GOP nod. It will guarantee Obama 4 more years.

Collision warning!

So TAM...why are you blustering?

Most relevant: She quit her job as governor. She was elected to office, and failed to live up to the duties of that office. One can admire her for many things, but being an effective head of state can not possibly be one of them.

ANd the fact that of what is on her mind is just plain stupid does not bother you?
This whole idea of supporting a "maverick" just because they are a "maverick" regarless of how stupid the "maverick" might be is pretty stupid in and of itself, and shows a really immature and juvenile approach to politics.

Because I want her to get the GOP nod so she can fail to become president. She is at the bottom of the list of who I would ever want to see run the most powerful country in the world. I think most people in the USA think the same way, but Republicans (for some strange reason) do not. I think if she wins the GOP nod, Republicans lose in 2012. This is what I wish.

If she fails to get the nod, she might run again, or worse, the Republicans might actually nominate someone who could win in 2012, knocking Barack out.

I don't care who wins as long as we get an effective leader with policies that make sense. I don't want Palin to run for 2 reasons.
1.) She may win.
2.) There would be no honest policy challenge to the admin. Without an effective and intelligent opposition, our democracy will fail.

While I generally agree with Obama's politics more than republicans, I am not a democrat above an american. There is no benefit to our Union if the republicans offer up an empty suite like palin.

Right, that's what you feel obliged to say but why do you secretly fear her? Whiplash said you did.

the sadist in me, wants Palin to get the nomination in 2012, so that the GOP will suffer such an incredible and monumental and embarrassing defeat, that it will take a decade for them to recover from it.

but i dont have to be that way. i do hope the GOP can find a more intelligent, articulate, worldly, knowledgeable, sophisticated, and qualified candidate.

I don't wanna have to choose between Einstein and Bo-Bo the Clown.

The panic is spreading!

That's not a reason to defend someone. That's a reason to attack someone.

This is a strange assertion. Aren't you a lawyer? I'm guessing not a defense lawyer. Someone being unfairly attacked in a hypocritical way is not reason to defend that person? I don't particularly like Geert Wilders, for instance, but I'll defend him (rhetorically) against hate speech charges. For alot of people, seeing some unfairly attacked does provoke an automatic response of defending that person.

There are few things I like about Palin: she doesn't seem to think that there should be a small group of "the elite" telling everyone else how to run their lives and believes that people should be allowed to make their choices...you know, liberty. That's about it.

If she had not been outrageously attacked right from the start about things that had nothing to do with her ability to carry out the office of VP (her children, hunting, making fun of her mannerisms, over the top sexualising, the disdain showed to her because she came from a small town, etc.), she would have simply faded away after the election. It was those attacks that made Palin what she is today, frankly.

Sarah Palin didn't make Sarah Palin the political force she is today, the people who launched the vicious and personal attacks against her are largely responsible for that.
