I've seen some of our more conservative posters come to the defense of Sarah Palin over and over again. Sometimes they say liberals insult her because they fear her. Sometimes they say the liberal media is unfairly attacking her. Sometimes they avoid the topic entirely and start talking about Obama's teleprompter. Surprisingly, I never hear conservatives say anything good about her.

So what do you like about Sarah Palin?

In anticipation of the liberal response, I will get the obvious lame jokes out of the way:

She's hot.

She's not president.

She's an easy target.

Blah blah blah.

Now that we have that out of our systems...let's get on with the thread.

I really like her mouth.

I think she has perky boobs.

She got decent legs.

Nice flowing hair.

pretty eyes.

and....um.....i think that's about it.

oh, she also makes me laugh.

yep..thats it.

She provokes hilarious reactions from both her supporters and her detractors. The entertainment value is excellent.

Well she certainly seems very able to "connect" with a certain type of USA citizen that I think is currently being self-labeled "teabagger".

She's an outdoorswoman. I admire that from someone that doesnt' look like Rosie O'Donnel.

I should clarify why I started this thread. I'm trying to understand the apparent need to defend her so vigourously and yet not having anything good to say about her. Is it because of you feel bad for her?

I think your thread is a great idea - she is obviously a very prominent figure on the USA "political stage" at the moment, and we do see folk "defending" her yet as you've said not by emphasizing her positive attributes. It does seem to me from my non-USA viewpoint that her defenders are not doing so in a positive sense but from what I would describe as a "she's on my side of the political leanings so I've got to defend her" stance.

I am genuinely interested to read what people consider to be her positive attributes in regards to her politics.

Hyprocrisy for one thing. Sarah writes a couple of words on her hand ostensibly to keep track of what she's going to say while Pres. Obama brings a teleprompoter into a third grade class. I don't agree with Sarah Palin about a lot of things, but I see the hypocrisy. Same holds true for Dan "Potatoe" Quayle and Joe "three letters [JOBS]" Biden.

I'm not a vigourous defender, but I see the confirmation bias plain as day. Oh, and feeling bad for a politician? Funny.

That's not a reason to defend someone. That's a reason to attack someone. The Palin attacks could be pefectly valid AND hypocritical.

Is there anything you like about Sarah Palin?

I still do admire her outdoorsmanship; In Alaska no less. I'd make her run for the president contingent on her performance on survivorman.

I don't particularily like or dislike her. I guess I feel sorry for her. Because I feel that many of the attacks made on her (especially the personal **** about her and her family) is just out of line.

And I can't help but marvel at the way the left is so up in arms about her, while also stating loudly that they want her to run and think it assures them victory. For me, it's more about observing the bizarre manner in which people think and react to her.

So I can't help but point out when I feel I'm seeing hypocrisy or inconsistency in what people are saying and how they are acting with regards to her. I'm inclined to believe that all the stuff about "shes our dream candidate, I hope she runs, it'll ensure us an Obama victory" is actually just bluster that is for their own benefit, not for anyone else. They seek to convince themselves of that. My reasoning? If they really believed what they were saying, they wouldn't also bend over backwards to insult and bring her down every single chance they can get. You don't bother with destroying someone who is absolutely no threat.

How do I feel about the idea that someone like her could be a legitimate threat? I don't know what to think. It's not like the American people have a track record of always voting for the most intelligent, sophisticated and best possible candidate for the job. I can't rule her out as legitimate, no matter how much everyone on the left wants to just handwave her away in such a manner.
