Amanda Knox guilty - all because of a cartwheel

Why did the interrogation have to happen in the wee hours of the morning?

If it was just asking questions, it could have waited for everyone to get a good nights sleep. They needed to soften up the defendant, stress her out until she was in an irrational state.

We know Amanda was awake at 1:30 AM. We know she was awake at 5:30 AM. And we know it took some time to extract the statement for her to sign. How rational are you after less than four hours of sleep, even without people yelling at you?

I also want to know how do you decide what is truth and what is fiction in Amanda's statements? You can't believe all of her 5:30 AM statement because it doesn't add up. So is the rule that whatever shows her to be most guilty must be the truth?

You really are impervious to information, it seems

Why not read the thread if these basic facts are still escaping you?

Weren't they given the option of when to turn up at the police station and decided to have dinner first arriving at the police station at 10pm?

Surely the defendents chose this? Also, didn't Amanda's initial questioning finish at around 1:45am and then she requested another interview a couple of hours later?

Is Amanda claiming that the second interview wasn't at her request? Perhaps that's an error of my memory. In any case, given that they didn't show up at the police station until 10pm, its hardly surprising that things went on late into the night.

Personally, at this point, I don't think its sensible to rely on anything she says without some kind of corroboration.

The insults make it clear you don't want to answer this simple question.

Why was Amanda being interrogated in the wee hours of the morning?

It is not an insult: it is an observation with very good evidence to back it up.

You are still avoiding the question.

Why was Amanda being interrogated in the wee hours of the morning?

If the prosecutors were simply looking for the truth, why couldn't it wait until everyone was rested and well fed?

beceause she chose to be interviewed at those times, she was well fed as she'd just gone out for a meal with her boyfriend before turning upn at the police station.

I am not avoiding the question Kestrel. I am avoiding explaining things which have been explained clearly in this thread. Both Shuttit and Brodski have answered you but you seem more intent on getting me to run around trying to dispel your ignorance and compensate for your laziness. I don't choose to do it this time but is not as if you cannot remedy your lack of knowledge with a little effort

Was Amanda free to leave after her 1:30 AM statement?
no, as she had then become a suspect in a brutal murder, should the police let suspects to murders walk out of their custody?

I personally don't know. She was "retained in custody" at 5:45am the following morning, so I suspect probably not. Why does it matter?

She and he boyfriend chose the time they turned up at the police station, or do you dispute that?

She requested an additional meeting with the police at 3:30am, or do you dispute that?

Only if it's past their bedtimes. In the US nobody is ever arrested after 9:30pm (without permission from the suspects mother that they can sleep over).

Kestrel is not asking questions, people: he is making insinuations. Those who are interested can find the answers to his "questions" quite easily. But that is not his purpose. He is insulting the intelligence of his readers and I am tired of it

I just reread the above. The only people who may not have been well fed when the questioning began were the people asking the questions. Unless the claim now is that Amanda and Raffaele's were lying about having come from dinner to the police station?

Folks keep to the topic and lets not start getting personal.

We know that the police lied about whether or not Amanda went to the station voluntarily or not (http://perugia-shock.blogspot.com/2009/05/giobbi-i-gave-order.html). We know that the police have a dog-ate-my-homework excuse for why they did not record the interrogation. That gives their account of the interrogation little credibility.

OK. The police called them. They were eating in a pizzaria and went to the police station when they were done eating. I'm fine with that being what happened. Is the quibble here about whether only one, or both of them were asked to attend?

Fiona has already posted evidence that the UK police aren't required to record interviews with witnesses. Is this a "dog ate my homework attitude" as well?

From Amanda's testimony

LG: At this point I would like to ask the Court to listen to a telephone
call between Knox and Filomena Romanelli from the 5th. There's an audio.
Precisely giving some confirmation on this point. So if
you authorize me, it's about three minutes.

GM: Please do. It's the one for which a transcription was requested?

LG: Exactly.

GM: Please do. Is the telephone call in Italian? [Background noise] Go ahead.

LG: So, this is the telephone call that was intercepted on Nov 5th 2007,
starting at 22:29, and the first question that I will ask Amanda is: where
were you? Maybe it's better if -- do you remember where you were at 22:29?

AK: Twenty-two...wait...

LG: Ten twenty-nine, ten thirty.

AK: Which day?

LG: The 5th.

AK: On the 5th...umm...ten thirty...that would be around class time, so...

LG: No, in the evening.

AK: Oh, in the evening, oh, the evening! I was still at the house of these
neighbors.

[Telephone call audio: loud ringing or beeping]

FR: Hello?

AK: Ciao bella.

FR: Ciao bella, how are you? [very sweet voice, kind, not at all hostile]

AK: [Italian noticeably less good than now, slow, yet really not so bad, not
totally a beginner] Oh, fine. I had a good day, without police.

FR: Aah...

AK: But Raffaele received a "call" [in English]--

FR: From whom?

AK: From the police. So we just got here, to the Questura, for questioning.
But I have to wait outside. And when he...umm..umm..

[LG cuts off the audio]

LG: I'm stopping it. Amanda, who were you talking to in this phone call?

AK: With Filomena.

LG: And where were you?

AK: At the Questura. I was near the elevator. Waiting for Raffaele.

Now, I said we were just coming to the
evening when you were called in, or rather when Raffaele was called in to
the Questura on Nov 5.
Where did you come from? Were you having dinner
somewhere? Do you remember?

We were at the apartment of a friend of his, who lived near his house, and
we were having dinner with them, trying, I don't know, to feel a bit of
normality, when Raffaele was called by the police.

Okay. So you went with him in the car, and you came in, and later you were
heard.

Yes. What happened is that they weren't expecting me to come. I went
somewhere a bit outside near the elevator, and I had taken my homework with
me

My bolding. So Knox agrees with the police and Giobbi disagrees. But according to Perugiashock Giobbi wanted them to be interviewed together.

I decided that we needed to hear them together in order to study their reactions.I decided that we needed to hear them together in order to study their reactions.

It seems that if he did issue this instruction it was not acted on: or perhaps he issued it but events overtook them ? Who knows? But Knox says she went with Sollecito and was not expected. And she says they had dinner with friends and not in a pizzeria. She is certainly a liar but we have the evidence of the cartwheels (remember them) to confirm that she was not in an interview room whlle she was waiting for Sollecito.
