Hitting A Woman?

Sigh, further definitions only lead to getting lost in the definition of a word because many words have multiple meanings and multiple usages. I already defined hitting and I'm not going to get embroiled in a semantic war.

Go watch a hollywood movie from the past 20 years, it is a staple of Hollywood "romantic comedy". I don't watch many movies, but the last "romantic comedy" that I watched with my wife was "Fool's Gold", which had as one of it's main "funny" scenes the female protagonist beating the crap out of her husband. I've never seen a movie where there was a scene that attempted to show a man committing violence against a women as funny.

As far as jokes about either Chris Brown or Rihanna, like I said, I don't find a joke at a specific person's expense on this subject to be very funny. Just because I don't find it to be funny doesn't mean I am going to tell people that they can't make those jokes.

We should take a sad song and make it better.

I think it is never good to hit a woman or even a man.
Being a pacifist is the way to go.


A better way is to think of hitting, slapping and even a fist in more playful terms.

I've already said no one should be battered, male or female. I don't think either is mature, acceptable, humane, or justified.
I don't think the jokes are very funny, either, That one about the woman with two black eyes, "you already told her twice.." yeah. Not so funny when it happens to ya folks.

But whatever. I'm spinning my wheels. Have..uh..fun.
 
I've never laughed at that joke. I hate that joke to no end. And an episode of Angel really brought the point home on just how bad that joke really is.

Oh, absolutely! It shouldn't be any other way. And some people will adjust their opinion of you based on the response you have as well.

Myself, I don't put too much stock in how someone responds to a joke. Sometimes you're in the mood, sometimes you're not.

Just so you know, it was twelve years of "something bad." They way you put it, it sounds more like a one-time incident.

Like I said, I didn't know anything about it and I don't know any of the details. I also doubt I am the person you want to share it with.

I pretty much laugh about everything. I find taking everything to heart causes me way too much stress. Bad things happen to everyone so when they happen to me and, a lot have, I don't take them personal and I don't think anyone else has to change who they are and, how they approach life, just because I was unfortunate enough to have it happen to me.

Perhaps you misunderstand how humour works. there must be some unexpected absurdity that makes us laugh. Most jokes are just a reconfiguration of another joke so, let's try it.

[This one has a little fake beating action you will need to do.]

You: Why did Rhianna beat Chris Brown over the head with a high heal?

Anonymous male: I don't know, why?

You: Because he just wouldn't f***ing listen! (At this point you are pretending to beat Anonymous male with your own shoe.)

Or how about a male blond joke?

There are three male construction workers sitting having lunch. One is a blonde, one is a brunette, and one is a readhead.

The brunette says, "My wife is so stupid! She bought 100 pounds of frozen meat and she doesn't even have a freezer to store it!"

The redhead says, "That's nothing. My wife is so stupid she bought a $15,000.00 car and she doesn't even have a drivers licence!"

The blonde says, "That's nothing! My wife is so stupid she is taking a trip to Greece, she packed a case of condoms and she doesn't even have a penis!"

I do not understand what is wierd about peace and love.
Explain that to me.

I think it is wierd that we even have to wonder when it is ever ok
to hit anyone.

Forget about it being a boy or a girl. That does not even matter.
The very fact that we are even having this discussion is disturbing
to me. It is troubling so much so that i just want to run and seek
the comfort of my many stuffed animal friends.

As far as self defense, just run away. We have police for a reason.
If you are hurt, get some photos taken at the local police station
and have them haul away the brute.

As far as a case where someone is out to kill you, I have to ask this.
Do you think hitting them back will make them stop or just make them angrier?

Crime tech is very good these days. So even if you are martyred in the
cause of peace, the killer will probably not get away.

We all die anyway, there is no better way to go than to die for
the cause of passive resistance. It is what makes heroes out of
people like Gandhi and MLK.
