Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

A challenge to any lurkers who haven't yet responded. Has ANYONE been persuaded by DOC's arguments? ANYONE?
.
I've been persuaded that DOC has no evidence that the NT writers told the truth....
.

Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned
I know it sounds absurd
Please, tell me who I am

So, what has convinced you that prophecy is real? You obviously think it is more significant than lucky guesses, or retrofitting events to fit vague statements. How did the people making the prophecies know what to say, and why is it significant that they did so?
Prophecy is a gift from God according to the bible. It is significant because it tells us Christ is who he said he was- the Son of God and the Messiah.

So you know that prophecy is true because the bible tells you. And the prophecies (in the bible) being true prove the bible is true...

DOC, do you have a definition of "circular reasoning" handy from one of the textbooks from the logic course you took? Could you provide it here? I think I'm using a different definition than you.

Again with the bible, it does not count as a source here DOC, it is not a proof.

Well, that's the point of view of a believer, and I can and do respect that, DOC.

Still.
To use prophecy to enrich a personal belief does no harm to anyone.
To use it as a logical argument to convince others is very wrong.
It's been posted up repeatedly and by different posters why that is so, especially in the case of the NT- perhaps the most telling argument is that the 'fullfilment of prophecy' texts were written after the events occured.

We've seen so many false prophets come and go- it's practically an international institution to ask 'psychics' or their predictions for the coming year, isn't it. And they're never right, are they. No-one howls they be stoned, that I know of.
Other than the famous baseball prophecy, I've never seen a true prophecy.
Ever.
I'll settle for some evidence the NT writers were telling the truth.
