Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Repetition does equal truth. For example, Obama's mantra of "CHANGE" was believed by many millions of people and repeated throughout the entire campaign. People believed it enough it won him the Presidency.
Your first sentence isn't supported by your second and third sentences.

Yes it is.
Nope.

ETA:
Repeating, "I'm a blue fairy" doesn't make me a fairy.
Having a catchy campaign slogan does help get people elected. But that's not proof that the repetition of that slogan is the cause of that winning of the election. Nor (in this case) does it prove that "change" actually happened. Or at least, the change people were expecting.

Let's just say if I was an atheist and read a thread where someone was able to place 1200 posts in an New Testament evidence thread, I would spend $4 dollars to get a used copy.

Check this out Doc. It's that new-fangled arithmetic everyone is on about.

Here is the first definition of evidence according to answers.com:

"A thing or things helpful in forming a conclusion or judgment"

The things posted in my first post are helpful in my forming a judgment that the NT writers were telling the truth.

And the more evidence we have that the NT authors were telling the truth, the more likely it is that the Resurrection was true.

You guys are all aware that there were a plethora of testiments and books apart from th 70 odd Constantine used to form the first bible in the 4th century, and many have been unearthed in the past fifty years.
Why I raise this is to help substantiate the OP's theme, and that is Doc's premise that there is a honest representation of the life of Christ and his times. The books that have been discovered do not tell a contradictory story to the life and times of Christ, rather they were possibly rejected for sectarian issues rather than inconsistency. But the theme and the chronolgy and the events are recorded by other writers who were obviously out of favour with the dominant Christian church, but they do not differ in the proposed facts.

Given that we can not qualify the validity of the bible or god, all we can do is look for the consistency and make value judgements on credibility.

Wow, that non sequiterrific.

A great find, amb.

Welcome to the forum, sonofgloin
You'll find this video worth seeing. It has part II and III as well.

A plethora of manuscripts, you say? Interesting.

Thanks Pakeha, it is interesting and it is along the lines of what I have surmised as well. Perhaps it is me but the interviewer seemed to have an agenda of discredit rather than the seeking of an answer to the authors of the bible. But the ex christian would not bend to his suggestions, stating that the differeing authors have a single theme, leaving scholars to surmise there was an original text.

I think you're quite right, sonofgloin, and the fact the interview was put up on YouTube by the interviewer says a great deal for the man's integrity.
I also appreciated the fact the interviewer let his subject speak fully.
I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer and it was listening and watching this interview that it finally sank in the that early church was not built upon the gospel, but rather on letters and testimonies.

Yes, this has been posted up repeatedly, but, as I said, it hadn't fully sunk in.
I've been mulling over the implications of this and feel the need for more study.
Not many interviews have that effect, do they.
So much to learn.

Wow, that was non sequiterrific.

Keep heart, brave Logic Warriors™, and remember the thread motto:

Dummer Ding, dann schtopp'n zu!"

Still awaiting the new evidence.
Shall I post up the OP again, to remind us what the thread was supposed to about?
Or shall I post up links to Brother Sam?
Decisions.
