On Monday the news reported that a man was arrested for being naked in his kitchen at 5am.

Here's the link to more of the story.

I'm really curious to the whole story.

My first impression is that a woman (who had admitted to cutting through this person's yard, so technically she was trespassing), with her seven year old over reacted. Now that this is getting national attention, the police are trying to find a way to prove their point. It has also come out that the woman who placed the complaint is married to a cop in the city.

Now I admit, this is only an impression, I could be wrong. I am curious to see if others feel the same as me and maybe seeing something I'm not.

The OP misread some things, and left other things out. The incident happened ~ 8:30 in the morning, the guy was probably hung over, he apparently stood directly in front of the window twice, and this apparently is not the first incident of its type. Also, there was no mention that the woman and child might have been trespassing, and the house in question is directly across the street from a school bus stop.

Still doesn't mean that a person can't be naked in their own home. That's just utterly ridiculous.

Sure it does, if your house has a glass window that faces outside. If you can be arrested for flashing someone, it shouldn't matter if you flashed the person from behind your front window.

People in glass houses shouldn't show their stones.

I lived for a very short while in the states, but never saw a house with the kitchen facing the front yard. Anyway, she shouldn't have been looking inside his house to begin with. It's not like he was mowing the lawn...

At some point they cut through the yard.

There seem to be multiple versions of what happened going around, so I will wait until some sort of consensus about what happened is formed.

She should be arrested for being a Peeping Tom.
Regardless of the facts of the case, that's unfortunately not how it works.

If a man sees a woman naked, he's being a peeping tom.
If a woman sees a man naked, he's flashing.

Agreed.

To clear the time thing up a little. The first report of this that came out on Monday said that the man was naked in his house at 5:30am. Now they're saying 8:30am. It's kind of strange that the time changed between the two reports, but perhaps the orginal news report got the time wrong.

Sure, to be fair, there could be another side to this. His yard could be a popular "shortcut" with people (so is ours, with our consent), and he may have been anticipating the lady's arrival and positioned himself on display in his window.

*If* he was standing right in front of the window, then yes, it would indeed have been as if he were outside mowing the lawn. We are not given this information, though. On the other hand, it's virtually impossible to see more than five feet into a window when it's daylight (try it, yourself, and see), which tends to corroborate the woman's version.

Also, the kitchen could very well be on the side of the house, rather than in the rear. This is a very common arrangement; I grew up in such a house.

Finally, try *not* to notice someone standing in the nude, in plain view.

At some point they cut through the yard.

The assertion is yours, and appears to be made out of whole cloth with no factual basis. The burden of proof is also yours.

Sigh. *You* got the time wrong, not the story. The guys housemates left for work at 5 AM. That's where that little item was mentioned. I don't believe we're told whether he was up and wandering around at that time.

No I have heard the same version of the story at work, that they were cutting through his yard at 5:30 and he was arrested for that. Clearly there are two versions circulating. Maybe the current one about 8:30 and not cutting through his yard is true, maybe both are wrong.

Eric Williamson, 29, from Virginia, insists he has done nothing wrong and any exposure of his private parts was purely accidental.

Williamson was making coffee in the buff at 5.30am when a woman and her seven-year-old son walked past his kitchen window in Springfield.

But a woman and her 7-year-old son happened to be strolling through his front yard and saw the 29-year-old having breakfast in the buff through his window

The news agencies are reporting this inconsitently.

I read the same stories. Sigh...... why does everyone think they know it all from one report?
