TAM London Updates-Everybody Post here

The Jonathan Ross podcast this week has Adam Savage as one of the guests. http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/ross

I haven't listened to it all yet, so I don't know if he mentions TAM London, but I'd be surprised if he didn't given that Ross was there, and Adam Savage was one of the speakers.

Warning, you may find some of the humour juvenile...

ETA: The Adam Savage interview starts around 11' 40" in.

ETA2: No mention of TAM London after all. :(

One suggestion for whoever decides to organise TAM London 2:
Make sure the Credit Card machine is present at the book-table.
If it had been there I would have spent substantially more money on books than I did this time.
And going to an ATM is not always an option, since that's actually quite expensive in my case (5 or 6 Euros per withdrawal).

Luckily, some people were nice enough to spot me some cash so I could at least get the one book I really wanted, and get it signed. Of course, I now owe quite a few people a whole lot of drinks next TAM ...

Hiya,

The cost of having a credit card machine for a one-off event was prohibitive (several thousand pounds), as UK merchant accounts are tied to banks who force you into a minimum 12-month contract. There are companies which supply them on a one-off basis, but bizarrely, marketing companies are not allowed to use their services (as dictated by the banks), so our hands were tied. The Paypal system was the best compromise, it was that or 'cash only' which of course would have been horrible.

We tried VERY hard to get a credit card processing account set up, believe me!
