TAM London Updates-Everybody Post here

Sorry a British obsession.

The perception of many people in the South East is that “the north” of the country starts around 30 miles above central London.

This is often corrected out by people in the North of England who claim that "oop north" starts around 200 miles higher than this before, as Jumile points out, a northern Scot reminds them that north of England is actually 200 miles down south.

Hey, no problem. Just after a minute thought, I guessed that that was exactly your lighthearted point.

On a side note,

Just came back from a 3-hour walk on rainy Hyde Park-Kengsington Gardens. What a wonderful piece of nature, so well taken care of. The trees are awesome, very old living beings of so many different varieties. Simply wow!

Now I'm revitailized for a good bye evening of noisy crowded pubs, and .... beer :D.

Comments on TAM London to come.

Sorry to derail further, but couldn't resist. It's just that I loved Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.

The speakers (what bits I saw) were incredible. Everyone loved the Tim Minchin Storm animation I'm producing, right? :D

Thanks again for everything!

I just wanted to say that I thought the bits we saw from Storm were fantastic.
I just love the animation style. I was blown away by the way the animated text paralleled the content (alternative medicine that is proven to work...).
This just makes everything so much easier to follow for laypeople and is in line with the way we process language. If the rest of the film is able to maintain this high standard, It'll be fantastic. Congrats!

I'll make sure the content of the skepsticks is added to the website at some point in case anyone has a blank one. There were 600 of the blighters to load!

If the stick itself is broken, email a postal address to info at tamlondon dot org and I'll send you another one.

Not sorry to derail further, but what about the nice people you met on Friday night?

Yes, it was great meeting you and your father. The restaurant was way too noisy though, but oh well, I guess every restaurant is noisy on a Friday night.

Say HI to your dad.

I ONLY noticed this topic this morning, and have been reading through with much interest, nodding in agreement most of the time. It was tap dancing this morning, so I wore my TAM London tee shirt! (Carole and I posted our thanks and appreciation for the event in the other thread.)

Obviously to short to get a geography lesson.

I've met Patricio at TAM 3, 5 and 6. It was an honour to have him stay with us and to show him around Cambridge. As he lives some 6,000 miles away we can forgive him some stuff. But he's right - we are north of London....... :p;)

My badge arrived in today's post! :)

Don't forget to post early for Christmas, guys...

I've posted a whole bunch of photos from my trip to London for TAM on Picasa. I was there for two weeks prior to TAM starting, so this includes a bunch of touristy photos that are not TAM relevant.

If you're only interested in the photos from TAM itself (and the "fringe" events), then start here with the Linnean Society tour photos.

If you are a Facebook addict, all of these photos are also posted there, just find me. Because Facebook has an arbitrary 200 photo limit per album, it is broken into 3 albums there (London 1, London 2 and TAM London).
