All you had to state was "I'm retracting his story was exposed as a fabrication" and say you don't believe his story. Instead you're in complete denial. Just admit that you can't expose his story as a fabrication, is it that hard?

No, because you've managed to paint yourself into a corner where the truth value of the OP is no longer an issue. The issue is that you made a statement that you knew was false at the time you made it. You've repeatedly tried to misrepresent that statement, evade the issue, and even claim that you framed your statement as one of fact rather than opinon out of politeness - an utterly bizarre claim; how exactly is "X, you are a proven liar" more polite than "X, I don't believe your story"? - but that's the actual issue here. At the time you said it, the story had not been "exposed as a fabrication"; your repeated demands for verification, in fact, demonstrate that it still has not been exposed as a fabrication, because if it had been, you would be able to produce the information that led to its exposure.

It's kind of clever, really, in a self-destructive way. Even if triforcharity's story did turn out to be untrue, you'd still have told a lie about it. It takes skill to shoot yourself in the foot that accurately.

No, it won't. Even if his story is eventually exposed as a fabrication, it won't change the fact that you lied about this event having already taken place at a point in time when it hadn't yet.

He has said he will verify the story to the mods, so we will have to wait and see. If it turns out that he has lied, then he will have to deal with the consequences.

Is it possible? Absolutely.

Would I use his story as an example of truther behavior? No. Not without further evidence.

Would I use your methods of complete denial as an example of truther behavior? Yes.

Nah, if it was exposed as a fabrication he'd probably be slapped down for it. The issue is you said the story has been exposed as a fabrication and you have never presented any evidence of any exposing of the story. Had you said, "I think this is bullhockey" no one would've noticed.
