Hi, as many of you know, I have sent a follow up FOIA to the NSA seeking a copy of what ever documents that are responsive to the original FOIA.

In my last status I reported:

"The last status is that the NSA has sent copies of the responsive documents to other agencies that have an "ownership" stakes in the documents (their phrase, not mine). They would not tell me what agencies or departments. I do not expect anything for some weeks from now."

June update: The foregoing information was incorrect. I have now been told that the referral to the other agencies is still waiting approval within NSA. It has been over eight months, and now I do not expect a response until at least November, because it has to through all those other agencies processes.

There are documents responsive to the FOIA, but what they say remains to be seen, of course.

I will post copies of the responsive documents in this thread after they are received.
 
Yeesh. While I'm not all that surprised, it's still a "yeesh" kind of moment.

It's been over a year now, right?
 
Hey, it takes time to re-do those documents properly. It took six months to requisition the 55-gallon drum of white-out, and we've still got to type over the old stuff once we get done with that.
Cover-ups take time!
 
What do you mean? Proof of NSA employment? No he didn't. Factual sources for his bizarre theories? No.

As I said, U1 should have known that using the phrase "coming soon" in reference to anything involving the gov't is just plain wrong. Maybe things work faster in the NSA in the country he lives in.:D
 
So how does a FOIA request work? Can you just request any UNCLASS info?

I would assume you cant request stuff that involves material that is "sensitive"...... like personal information....

What exactly can you request through FOIA?
 
You can request anything - doesn't mean you'll get it :)

More seriously, I'm not sure on the US regulations, but in the UK you can request pretty much anything apart from personal information, and the relevant organisation has to justify why is shouldn't be released if they so desire - national security etc.

That makes sense....I would suspect the US process is similar.
 
Me predicts nothing but crickets and a slow rotting death for this thread.

It'll get kicked now and again - maybe by somebody who runs into our friend U1 on another board - but for all intents and purposes it's dead.

That is, unless 16.5 ever gets a response, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

This is a better thread than Heiwa's "one way crush down not possible!" thread. But not quite as bad as C7's "ten story hole" thread. I think these morons start these threads and refuse to let them die for the attention. Christophera bragged in another forum his thread got over 11,000 responses.
