Why is PETA so bloody dam stupid....

Like Fred Phelps, PETA believes there is no such thing as bad publicity. They have yet to notice that their message is completely overshadowed by the manner, time, and place of its delivery.

YAY!! Every time PETA makes the news I go to the meat market and buy veal patties.

Drudgie eats well tomorrow.

My guess is that lack of protein in their diet has driven them crazy.

PETA doesn't care when humans die. One less human to be out there eating meat, enslaving animals as "pets", and stealing habitat from wildlife, is a good thing in their eyes.

Ah, PETA.

As with Drudge, every time they're in the news, I go buy veal......maybe kill a calf for fun. And use it's hide as a shirt. While beating a baby seal. Riding a dolphin. Which I then skin for fun.

For every animal you don't eat, I'm going to eat five.

Dumb.
(EDIT: PETA's actions, not the thread or the OP.)

The thing about PETA being anti-pets is a myth. There may be PETA members who are anti-pets, but it's not an institutional thing. I have a good friend who will be starting this fall working as an attorney for PETA. She owns a dog, the person who interviewed her has pets (at least one dog, IIRC), she said a lot of people she met there have pets. It's a myth.
(Puzzling Evidence.)

Question: How is it any less dumb to increase your meat consumption based on what PETA says than it is to decrease your meat consumption based on what PETA says? Either way, you're basing what you eat on what PETA says. I'd rather eat what I want to eat based on what tastes good and what's healthy. At least four people in this thread disagree?

It's not like I'd never eat veal if it weren't for PETA. I love it to pieces. The fact it's also a reverse protest just makes it the tiniest bit tastier. :D

I don't know about that. It kind of sounds like they are against pets;

This selfish desire to possess animals and receive love from them causes immeasurable suffering, which results from manipulating their breeding, selling or giving them away casually, and depriving them of the opportunity to engage in their natural behavior. Their lives are restricted to human homes where they must obey commands and can only eat, drink, and even urinate when humans allow them to.

We at PETA very much love the animal companions who share our homes, but we believe that it would have been in the animals' best interests if the institution of "pet keeping"—i.e., breeding animals to be kept and regarded as "pets"—never existed.

i was wondering why US citizens hate animal rights for so many years, until i joined jref. and learned about PETA. They dont, they just dislike PETA ad have so many good reasons for it.

I think PETA discriminates against plants.

Why don't they think of the horrors experienced by the broccoli, when it gets  horribly chopped in the prime of its life, just to be turned into dinner?!?

Can't they feel the pain of the corn? Some of it gets soaked and mashed and processed into HFCS, just so we can drink sodas! Some gets processed into ethanol, just so we can drive our cars! Some gets dried and (gasp!) :eye-poppi siloed :eye-poppi just to be fed to the animals! The animals, for crying out loud!!!

Can't they sympathize with the fescue? Humans plant it where we want it; we feed it evil chemical fertilizers; we dump animal feces on it; while it stands helpless, we mow it!

Those evil speciesists!!!

Ingrid Newkirk is just totally whacked. She is PETA. Everything stems from her insanity.

Good observation. A lot of JREF members are animal lovers. I strongly believe in animal welfare. Animals rights? That's a different thing. Maybe to an extent, but do I feel that a domesticated animal has a right to not be kept as a pet? No. I regularly donate to the ASPCA, but I think PETA is bizarre to say the least. OTOH, when they run the bulls in Pamplona, I always cheer for the bulls! :D

lol yeah i do the same for the bulls. i feel far more sorry for a bull that falls during that chase than i feel for one of the idiots geting horned by a bull.
same for toreros. im a bulls fan (not Chicago) in that regard :)

animal rights is maybe a strange word to use, but i do feel that animals have or should have some rights.
