PETA and Abortion What person who is missing parts of his brain thinks that this is a fraking good idea?
I'd rather eat what I want to eat based on what tastes good and what's healthy. At least four people in this thread disagree?
Dumb.
(EDIT: PETA's actions, not the thread or the OP.)
The thing about PETA being anti-pets is a myth. There may be PETA members who are anti-pets, but it's not an institutional thing. I have a good friend who will be starting this fall working as an attorney for PETA. She owns a dog, the person who interviewed her has pets (at least one dog, IIRC), she said a lot of people she met there have pets. It's a myth.
(Puzzling Evidence.)
Question: How is it any less dumb to increase your meat consumption based on what PETA says than it is to decrease your meat consumption based on what PETA says? Either way, you're basing what you eat on what PETA says. I'd rather eat what I want to eat based on what tastes good and what's healthy. At least four people in this thread disagree?
This selfish desire to possess animals and receive love from them causes immeasurable suffering, which results from manipulating their breeding, selling or giving them away casually, and depriving them of the opportunity to engage in their natural behavior. Their lives are restricted to human homes where they must obey commands and can only eat, drink, and even urinate when humans allow them to.
We at PETA very much love the animal companions who share our homes, but we believe that it would have been in the animals' best interests if the institution of "pet keeping"—i.e., breeding animals to be kept and regarded as "pets"—never existed.

just to be fed to the animals! The animals, for crying out loud!!!I think PETA discriminates against plants.
I don't know about that. It kind of sounds like they are against pets;
Yeah, sounds a lot like that.We at PETA very much love the animal companions who share our homes
Hey, you oppose euthanasia. That's cool (I guess). PETA doesn't. That's cool too.
Tell us about it, Rev. Maynard:
Good observation. A lot of JREF members are animal lovers. I strongly believe in animal welfare. Animals rights? That's a different thing. Maybe to an extent, but do I feel that a domesticated animal has a right to not be kept as a pet? No. I regularly donate to the ASPCA, but I think PETA is bizarre to say the least. OTOH, when they run the bulls in Pamplona, I always cheer for the bulls!i was wondering why US citizens hate animal rights for so many years, until i joined jref. and learned about PETA. They don't, they just dislike PETA ad have so many good reasons for it.
