What I've gotten so far is that it managed to simultaneously bury itself and break up into tiny pieces while leaving behind no soil contamination and not burning any of the grass around the rim.

Can we assume that you believe that the rescue crews and crash investigators were making a fundamental mistake by collecting the wreckage of the crashed aircraft and recovering body parts when they should have been testing the soil for, for, for something? A fascinating approach. Totally mad, but fascinating.
