TAM London Roll Call

I know the sell-out surprised a lot of people, including us. We did quite a bit of research before settling on venue and an anticipated number for registrations for this first-time event.

Researching other potential venues began early yesterday afternoon. There are many, many things to consider before making any changes, if there are changes made, but we are already at work trying to see if there are options.

Hope it works out. The lineup for UK looks more interesting than the US, IMHO, and I'm sure a lot of people who have been hearing about it for years and couldn't make the trip, were excited to attend.

Aha! I see your premise there.

To us who have been waiting to be able to afford TAM in Vegas for years, TAM London is not a first time thing, it's a dream come true.

It seems I will be there, even though I've voted in the "Why I won't be there" thread. You'll recognize me, not because I look like my avatar, as I'm told that I don't, but because I will be the fat long-haired one standing in a corner, looking at my shoes and shaking.

So who are the smokers with whom I will be standing outside at regular intervals?

Well, since selling started at noon, and they were all gone in a few hours, I think it's safe to say they all went during working hours. :)

ETA: the notice announcing the sell-out was posted no later than 16:50, and I think the tickets had gone before then. So, well under 5 hours.

If you total the amount of time the site was live, they were gone in an hour. If we'd been able to anticipate this level of demand, we'd have booked the Albert Hall and made a fortune :D

Actually, the Albert Hall is insanely expensive to hire, scratch that.

I have to know; how much does it cost to book the Albert Hall for the night exclusively? Oddly, they don't advertise the price on their normal website.

Me, I think. Like many people, I have the confirmation e-mail from Google Checkout, which says TAM London has charged my credit card, but I am uncertain as whether I should have received confirmation from the TAM team yet.

Contact Tracy.

Me too!

BTW, I think I got the ticket precisely because it was scheduled for when I was at work where I could keep a close watch on the proceedings.

Me!

I will certainly be in London the weekend of October 3 and 4. Well, unless something really nasty happens to me in the interim. You never know...

I'll be there
Really looking forward to it, especially Brian Cox's talk. I'm just looking forward to him staring up at the sky and saying "It's all 'mazing' repeatedly

No one drinks in this crowd.

Damn and blast!
Well, it seems it'll be up to me and the boozy rodent here to do away with the beer and booze.

Or it may just be that i'm lousy at interpreting irony...

I'm staying a Club Quarters St. Pauls - strategicly placed in staggering distance from the venue. I wonder if any of the natives have a suggestion for a watering hole suitable for a bunch of thirsty skeptics, I guess there will be more of us :D

Add me. I am sure I'll be around for a drink or three, though I don't yet know if I will be staying overnight in London or at my place out of town.

Someone has to force me to drop work for an hour on the Friday night and come out drinking. Remind me to PM my mobile to at least 3 or 4 of you to make sure of it!

Is it really possible that only 10-12 people from the forum made it to TAM?

I'll be there. Got a cheap travelodge room in a dodgy part of town for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, and am contemplating taking more days off work either side, if other people will be about.

Are people likely to be about before, or after the weekend? Am contemplating staying over Thursday night, as I normally work in London on Friday anyway.
