Sean Hannity offers to be waterboarded for charity

If Hannity volunteered to do it, especially as a charity fund-raiser for the troops, then he will do it. He might take some time to set it up to make it a big event and raise as much $$$ as possible, but he wouldn't back out on it. Even if he turned chicken, the credibility cost would be WAY too high.

Regardless of his politics, he is consistent, and generally willing to put his money where his big mouth is. Personally, I can't stand Olbermann, and would love for Hannity to go for a couple hours to totally drain Olbermann's finances -- but KO would probably weasel out after about five minutes.

I don't think any of this is correct.

I really doubt Hannity will do it. I think he was just talking out of his rear-end, as usual, and just trying to trivialize water-boarding as nothing more than an uncomfortable feeling.

We have a winner. Olberman just cut a piece of Hannity's glib banter with Charles Grodin and pretended it was serious so he could have a minute or two of filler.

However, I would gladly contribute to a charity that waterboards Hannity (extra money if he cries like a baby afterwards).

Well, I agree with Olberman calling Hannity out on this though. Hannity should be shown for the ass he is for trivializing water-boarding.

Surgeons are sued all the time for malpractice.

Malpractice is not assault. Malpractice can involve many things that don't involve sticking a knife in someone.

Being sued is a civil matter. Criminal trials and jail time are not civil matters.

Got any other interesting facts unrelated to the question?

I'm still trying to figure out why you associated medical operations with making waterboarding illegal regardless of consent. However, since you are incredulous that surgeons sticking "knives" in patients never constitutes a felony, you might want to add this to your vacuous reservoir of information. This transplant surgeon's rush to use his scalpel to harvest organs resulted in deliberate over medication to hasten his patient's death

Is Cicero this dense on purpose? It's hard to imagine that anyone can sincerely make the arguments he's making.

Whatever happens to Hannity, he knows it's just a stunt, and he won't suffer any consequences... like another waterboarding in the next 5 minutes.
It's as pointless as the test questions on a polygraph examination.
Everyone knows the responses are supposed to be lies, so the questions are meaningless.
Now let (please, let) Hannity be waterboarded by anyone without his best interests in mind, to put him in the proper fearful mindset towards his survival, or fear of serious injury, THEN the situation becomes meaningful.
Otherwise, it's just another Chris Angel illusion, of no importance at all.

You are the one who says that waterboarding is just too dangerous for tots even if they consent to it. So why shouldn't it be outlawed in the U.S. just as hazing is in most sates and colleges?

BTW: That you are flummoxed by the use of the word "tots" for toddlers as some sort of "redneck" moniker aptly demonstrates your invincible ignorance.

Cicero,

I'm asking you, if parents were properly trained, would it be ok to water-board children? Why or why not?

I agree that water-boarding of children should be illegal, even if they consent to it. Do you hold the same position? If so, why? If not, why not?

I work with an ex-navy guy who was water boarded. The point of water boarding is that the drowning reflex/mindset breaks you immediately. Even if you know you are safe, you can't control the panic it creates. Hence, military personnel who were water boarded as a routine part of their training still "broke" even though it was administered as a routine training exercise.

There is no illusion version where people with smiles do it and it is somehow better. When the "oh crap" switch flips in your head, it doesn't matter if its your mom doing it or darth vader.

Now, I've joked around about water boarding Hannity, but some of you people sound downright demented wishing it upon him with these fantasies in your heads of repeated dowsing and interrogation.

KSM was water boarded 183 times. Now, if you are an American citizen, you should wish that he was water boarded about 1917 more times at a minimum. Then you look down at your feet and either say "but we don't torture" or "the hell we don't" depending on how you feel about it.

3 people, the mastermind of 911, a major player in the Cole bombing, and Bin Laden's travel agent who had the most intel on whereabouts of operatives of anyone aside from KSM were water boarded.

I think the constant back and forth over waterboarding has diminished the fact that the practice was obviously an exception used on 3 exceptional individuals. People defending water boarding don't seem to get that ("let's water board all dem terr-rists") and the people who glibly shout "why don't you have your kids water boarded" don't seem to get it.

The US doesn't waterboard enemy combatants.*

That's the official policy of the US government.

* Unless you masterminded 911, the Cole bombing, or are the guy who every field operative has on speed dial. If you are one of those 3 guys, you had better have gills.

What used to be generally perceived world-around as "American virtues" are not what the scum-bags from PotUS on down through the sewer of his administration did to prisoners.
We don't do that!
The trash people of the world do it.
American's don't!

Why? Are you in the mindset that water-boarding is ok as long as it's someone you really don't like? I'm for the death penalty, but torturing people only satisfies a blood-lust, revenge. You draw the line at 3 "exceptional" cases, buy why? How did you come up with this arbritrary line? Why not torture drug traffickers as well?

You are reading too much into what I said. I didn't say if it was okay or not. I merely pointed out that there was no policy if you look back at the results.

Yeah. If I were arguing your position, I wouldn't want to face what the men who interrogated Nazis in WWII said either. Knowing that they were able to extract usable information from a much worse enemy than we face now without betraying our principles would make me want to crawl under a rock in shame.

Who would want that when ignorance is bliss and depravity is easier?
