Sean Hannity offers to be waterboarded for charity

You all realize that no matter how bad it is, when it's all over he'll say "oh that wasn't so bad. thats not torture!"

Sean Hannity didn't strike me as the best exemple of intellectual honesty out there, but I have still hopes he would actually be faithful to the experience and admit it is at least pretty rough. After all it was designed that way.

After publicly saying he'll do it, he can't back out completely, or his viewers won't buy it.

I don't think he's got the testicular fortitude to actually try it, because then he might have to admit error (and, if we learned nothing else from Bush, it's that there's nothing worse than admitting you're wrong).

So I think he'll go for a wussified version, where the "waterboarding" consists of him having water poured on his face.

Yes, but if he does that, I think the same night you'll be seeing Christopher Hitchens on a few other channels challenging Hannity.

Good point... So maybe he puts up $10 mil for a soldier in Iraq getting water boarded? Granted an invasion, not a terrorist attack.

Exactly. If John McCaine, who was waterboarded, and not for a demonstration, says it's torture, that should be good enough for anybody.

The honest debater who supports waterboarding should take the tack* that it's a necessary evil, if they truly think it is.

Keith Olbermann offered $1000 per second. He said he would double it if Sean admits that it is torture and says he feared for his life. The money would go to a charity that supports the troops. He even has someone who used to waterboard in the SERE program to do it.

Olbermann pressing on Hannity's waterboard offer

After Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity made a seemingly impromptu offer last week to undergo waterboarding as a benefit for charity, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann leapt at it. He offered $1,000 to the families of U.S. troops for every second Hannity withstood the technique.

Olbermann repeated the offer on Monday's show and said in an interview Tuesday that he's heard no response. He said he'll continue to pursue it.

"I don't think he has the courage to even respond to this — let alone do it," Olbermann said.

Fox News Channel representatives did not respond to requests for comment. ...

Now, I don't necessarily like Olbermann nor do I agree with him on some things, but I do give him props for pursuing Hannity on this. It'll be interesting to see if Hannity man's up and follows through.

If Hannity volunteered to do it, especially as a charity fund-raiser for the troops, then he will do it. He might take some time to set it up to make it a big event and raise as much $$$ as possible, but he wouldn't back out on it. Even if he turned chicken, the credibility cost would be WAY too high.

Regardless of his politics, he is consistent, and generally willing to put his money where his big mouth is. Personally, I can't stand Olbermann, and would love for Hannity to go for a couple hours to totally drain Olbermann's finances -- but KO would probably weasel out after about five minutes.
