Michelle Bachman...Moron?

Comment today on FreeRepublic concerning Arlen Specter's defection:

Thank God for my congress woman Michele Bachmann to help maintain my sanity...

There are a number of things wrong with that sentence.

It appears she was mean to Treasury Secretary Geithner:
Appears to me they answer her questions (what they had time for) fairly well. I'm a tad surprised Bachman doesn't understand how the legislature works as an agency of the Constitution, but that's another topic.

Yesterday, she observed how the two big flu outbreaks have been under democratic leadership...not that she thought it meant anything (nor was she accurate, as the last swine flu outbreak was under Ford). I think she just says what's in her head without either facts or thought...

Hoot-Smawley; Bachmann's latest:

I could forgive her the spoonerism if she had gotten anything right in her comments. Smoot-Hawley was signed into law by Hoover, not FDR and the idea that Coolidge faced a more severe economic crisis than FDR did is silly.

I'm fairly sure that the government does in fact only issue currency issued by the government.

The word "duh" springs to mind.
She may take the position that the Federal Reserve Bank is not in fact part of the government, and thus its notes, which are the currency we use, are not printed by the government ... or something like that.

Bachmann on hate crimes :

I think it also, we could say, denies equal protection under the law. If you have an individual going through a crosswalk and a person is in their car and they hit that person in the crosswalk, it is up to the person who is hit to file the charge if it was a hate crime or not. So if the person is gay, and that is the status that is being protected, and the person driving the car is straight, would it be a hate crime if the person driving the car who is straight hit the person who is gay in the crosswalk? So does it say, then, that that life that was hit in the crosswalk is more valuable because it was a gay life versus if the person who was in the car, who is gay, who hits the person in the crosswalk, who is straight, does that mean that the straight person in the crosswalk doesn't have a cause of action against the person who is gay who is driving that car? It raises the question of whose life is valuable and whose isn't.

Yes, that's right, Michelle. The gravamen of this legislation is that gay people will be able to run you over with impunity.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I feel a sudden urgent need to have sex with a man ... and take driving lessons.

If you said that about almost anyone else, I think it would be insulting them, but in reference to Bachmann, you're being generous.

What I think she was reacting to was China asking the IMF to look into getting a new international reserve currency - the US dollar has been the international reserve currency, but it looks like China wants the IMF to look into changing to a different one. Okay.

To Bachmann this means that China is going to force the US to replace the dollar with an international currency. Which is exactly what Obama and Geithner want too. Yes, she is actually that stupid.

Anyway, she did just propose an amendment to the Constitution that would prohibit the US from issuing currency not minted by the federal government. Not bad.

I missed this earlier... since currency isn't minted that would be an utter waste of an amendment.

Federal Reserve Notes are printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing which is under the Treasury department. That said, I stand by my Amero fear mongering statements earlier in the thread.

She's like a Republican Dennis Kucinich.

I think I heard something like this in another thread. I don't get this. Kucinich is "out there" in terms of his positions on political issues, yes. He's so far left that I would actually be able to vote for him without holding my nose. I get that.

But the thing about Michele Bachmann is that she's not just way out to the right on political issues - it's that she's way out to the wrong on factual issues, and way out to the crazy when it comes to her relationship to reality. Also hateful. The liberal Michele Bachmann isn't Dennis Kucinich - it's gotta be somebody a little past Michael Moore. Like a stupid Michael Moore with no sense of humor.

(And yes, I'm aware that, to many, saying "a stupid Michael Moore with no sense of humor" is like saying "Michael Moore.")

She wasn't mean...Both Geithner and Berneke had a hard time figuring out what the hell she was talking about. The problem for Geithner and Berneke...is that they can't sit at that table and say..."Congresswoman, I don't think you have the slightest idea about what you are talking about..." So, she gets to pretend like she's making real points...which only matter on the Glenn Beck show and not in the real world.
I agree. It's interesting to see the different reactions to stupid displayed by Geithner and Bernanke. Geithner has a harder time hiding it, and a harder time keeping it from flustering him. Bernanke appears to be more used to it.

One guy who doesn't have to try to hide his reaction is the dude over Bernanke's left shoulder (our right) from 3:54-3:59.

Wouldn't it be great if the flamethrowers from both sides would tone it down, and the complete Bachmans would lose their powers of speech? What would happen then?

I could ride around on the rainbow coming out of my ass...

My understanding is that Kucinich believes in "Chemtrails" and UFOs.
