Chávez: America Bad, Russia Good.

im not sure i understand what you wanted to tell me :)

im not a communist :)

I wasn't saying or even implying you were. I was disagreeing with you on those wars being fought mainly over "way of life" due to being capitalist vs communist. Tell me the part you didn't understand and I'll try to clarify it.

i see it like this.

those that start and push wars are the ones fighting (or letting it fight) for power and influence etc, not really for ideology.

the joung man and woman that are on the battlefield fighting the war do it more fr way of life / patriotism / ideology.

So, to get back on topic, DC, you did say:

Thats sick, a russian base.....

But you kind of stopped there, and then you went on on a long off-topic diatribe against the US and capitalism (maybe because you can't help yourself). But can you get back to the "that's sick" part? Could you elaborate?

Ok, simple but good. So when a large country exploits a small country, the economic sytem is irrelevant other than the method used in exploiting it and the outcome of such exploitation. The -ism doesn't matter. Does it?

My post was also addressing the citizens freedoms of Soviet/Chinese vs Western countries during the same time period of said wars and if that had relation to capitalist vs communist or were those just names labeled to an opposing way of life and less about how each economic system worked. Is there a connection between economic systems and personal freedoms? That might be harder to answer than you think.

try to read the thread. i did not kinda stop there......

and what do you mean with, cant help myself?

An economic theory can't kill you. Even an Islamic fundamentalist nation can have capitalism, and it's highly illogical to assume that every non-believer they execute is done in the name of almighty Capitalism.

then Socialism and Communism didnt kill anyone :)

well the War's marketing's main point was Communism that was a direct danger. So we must prevent it from spreading.

and yes economyc systems are connected to personal freedom i belive.

I'm sorry DC, but I did read the thread, and your only comment about the OP was the "That's sick" remark.

Anybody who has read the thread can see that.

"That's sick", in what way?

you must have missed post #103

You really think there's going to be a referendum about that?

Can you give me one source where a referendum is hinted at?

If the Venezuelans choose yes, then it won't be sick?

yes i if i was a Venezuelan, i would start a referendum. i expect the same from the opposition (in case they finally realise how direct democracy works)

if they say yes, i will keep my oppinion. I think its a very stupid idea.
on the other hand i can also understand it.

But you're not a Venezuelan, and I see no one saying anything about a referendum about this. Do you have a source that says a referendum will be proposed to the Venezuelans?

Again, in what way?

I know it's difficult for you to keep supporting this regime like a fanboy while trying to appear to criticize it, but try.

It always amazes me that you simply don't care about the facts.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the ideologues. If facts get in the case of our ideology, the facts must be disposed of. Ideologues of all stripes behave this way.

no, i have no source, but i expect a people initiated referendum, in case alot people also see it as a stupid idea.

stupid in what way?
im not sure. i totaly distrust Putin and his gang.

on the other hand i may bring some money, and who knows. maybe it will prevent the US gov from trying to overtrow him.
on yet another hand, they could protect Chavez in an attempt of the people to overtrow him, in case he would not leave office when demanded by the majority. and that would be very bad.

LOL amazing
no mather what i say, i defend hero Chavez :)

Right, and Red Bull gives you wings. That has kind of been part of my point.

Then I would be interested to know how that is.

the connection of economic systems and individual freedoms?
you dont really want me to explain that with my english? do you?

no, i have no source, but i expect a people initiated referendum,

You know, what an anonymous Swiss guy on an internet forum expects isn't much evidence that there will be a referendum about this.

Just sayin'

What if there isn't a referendum?

stupid in what way?

So you don't trust Putin and his gan, but you welcome their dirty money?

You don't trust Putin and his gang, but are OK if they get a military base near Venezuela anyway? What if they decide to overthrow Chavez?

You don't trust Putin and his gang but don't trust Obama and his administration more?

on yet another hand, they could protect Chavez in an attempt of the people to overtrow him, in case he would not leave office when demanded by the majority. and that would be very bad.

But if the people votes "yes" to your hypothetical referendum, then it's their fault isn't it?

Given the situation, history, and context, it doesn't seem unreasonable to say "yes" to each of those.

eta:From the perspective of Chavez/Venezuela, anyway.
