Hoovervilles=1933. Obamavilles=2009!

I'm sure I'm setting myself up for your rather transparent response, but if the shantytowns of FDR's presidency in 1933 - a year into it - were blamed on president Hoover, then why should shantytowns set up during president Obama's first 50 days be blamed on him rather than president Bush?

You appear to be as bad analyzing history as you do climatology.

He's been president for less than 3 months. Less than 90 damn days. Yet all these numbnuts will try to pin it all on Obama, nevermind that he's taking drastic steps to clean up the destroyed economic landscape left by his predecessor.

Basically Bush took a cholera infected **** all over our nation and you're mad at Obama for using chemicals to disinfect the area.
 
Hoover's economic policies were quite the opposite of what Obama is doing now. Maybe the principles of economics have done a 180 degree turn since then?

This reminds me the Iraq War 2/Vietnam analogy. They're different animals. Analogies are useful, but they always fail when you look at the details. And the details matter.
 
So you really think these tent cities will come to be called something other than Obamavilles? I understand that many would like them to be called something different, but that isn't relevant, is it?

They sure look like.....Obamavilles.

Maybe we should poll the people living there? They have a right to name their new cities. This conversation is admittedly shear speculation.

I'm sure to you they do. Your political myopia to the point of blindness is well-documented on this forum.
 
Well until we can determine what to call them we can just call them Whovilles, doesn't that sound nicer? Or we can look into ways to solve the problem, mainly getting people back to work.
