Bet they are not as expensive as here? Don't move to the UK.....not sure of the current exchange rate, but 20 smokes are about £5 ($9?) and those are the cheap gut-wrenchers.
Rumours abound that our nanny-state type politicians are now considering banning smoking whilst driving.

They have got no chance of that. What next ? Stop listening to music ?

You folks should know how badly you are getting your heads handed to you in your debates with ole Master-de-bator bill smith.

But Teddy....everybody knows that jref is a forum of wall-to-wall Shills (with a very ocasional Truther) I am not expecting converts but I do quite enjoy putting them through their paces here and there. I will choose my moments.

Y'all should be embarrassed by the fact that billy is "putting you thru your paces".

And as for "the Russian judge" (aka, Bob the Analyst),

"if you want to look and be real smart with the shills on that jref site, cut and paste Bob's work, you will be known as the man amongst the boys, where ever you go, it works for me in here, but it's sometimes lonely at the top, for me

there you go, I officially gave you permission to copy myself to look like a posting genius on another board."

If you can contain your laughter for just a moment, it gets better.

At this time, the Professor is denying that he is posting on JREF. In fact he is denying that he even knows what JREF is!!

Bob the Analyst said:
"not sure what jref is, I asked before, never got a response..."

He says that he doesn't know what JREF is, but in the very next sentence he is giving permission for others to copy & paste his "stellar" work...??!!

Self-adoration raised to absurd heights.

Sort of half-way there already here, use of some hands-free mobiles are banned. I know someone who was questioned about his Ipod earpiece after a speeding stop.

The smoking ban has decimated the UK Pub industry. Perhaps the reason that "smoking pubs" aren't allowed is that those designated as such would do a roaring trade whilst non-smoking bars would quickly close.

There are a couple of, local-ish to me, "smoking friendly" pubs where (after a late-night lock-in) sparking up a ciggy or two is largely ignored, but such liberal establishments are few and far between. The hefty fines and curtailment of licence may be a factor......

Smoking ban is the best thing to come from the govt in the last few years. About 1 in 4 smokers in the UK now. All good.

I don't disagree with the smoking ban per se. But some accomodation should/could have been made for smokers. "Smoking pubs" is an obvious idea as mentioned. Perhaps some of the billions of revenue collected from tobacco tax could be used to compensate non-smoking establishments? It seems that my money is taken with one hand and I'm slapped with the other.

Alcohol abuse and obesity kill a lot more people in the UK so what next? Prohibition and calorie police? It just seems to be the thin end of the wedge.

smoking and critical thinking, an oxymoron

Never smoked. I thought we all were critical thinkers? Ill ask you the same question I asked my son when i found out he was smoking. "I thought you were smarter than that?

I wish I never had. I actually stopped for three years but started again. I guess once a smoker always a smoker.

It is so bloody addictive; I hope to goodness my kids take the same advice.

I gave up for 6 years till '99. Now I give up every morning, but only for an hour before I cave in again. I am going to do it for good one day soon. I must.

1. Please quote the proper poster.
Whoops
2. I don't smoke.
Good for you!

Do you know what decimated means?
3. Killing oneself is a right.
Really? In Nevada and/or somewhere else?

Is there a time limit?

Who pays if/when attempts go awry?

Do you know what decimated means?

Sans googling i think it originally had something to do with the Roman Legions.

ETA just googled it HERE seems the word is quite apt for the context. One in ten pubs gone to the wall may be a fair estimation after the UK smoking ban

This is a serious that affects me greatly. So if you or anyone is willing to have a real discussion, great, let's talk. In the mean time don't treat me like I'm a child and ask me stupid questions like "do you know what decimated means?"
