Call me skeptical but I scoff when I see any thread title that begins with the words "absolute proof."

Still, I think the video is interesting, but I can come up with innocuous explanation. MSNBC while broadcasting live, was not airing a live feed from the flight tracker.

Now, that's my initial thought. If there's evidence that the flight tracker is live, it is compelling evidence, but I suspect it's an issue of time delay.

Here is Flight Explorer's flight path for UA 175,

and the location of that plane corresponds with the last data point Flight Explorer provides in outlining the flight path of UA 175.

So we have two possible explanations: the location shown on the video shows the last data point for UA175 and there was no more data to update the flight explorer because it hit the Tower; or UA 175 was hanging stationary in the air somewhere over New York City.

Talk to Flight explorer and get back to us.

ETA: I found a 2001 press-release describing how it works. This seems to cover it.

Many online travel agencies and airlines use a irregularly-updated timetable system to inform travelers on where a flight is supposed to be. Flight Explorer combines FAA air traffic control reports, which are updated as often as every 10 seconds, with weather data to show a flight's actual location.

It sounds like if there were issues with the FAA data, there will be issues with the display.

Oh please. It is clearly tracking planes that are in the air. Those that were supposed to be flying but are grounded are not shown. Pretty obvious the system is based on planes that are still in the air. And seeing as how UA175 is heading eastward on the screen (it supposedly blew up heading due north) its pretty obvious its tracking the plane "post crash" and that it still exists.

If you can say a video like this is not proof than I can say no audio of the tower collapses is not disproof of a demolition.

also to reiterate, as for real- world experience. I was following the progress of my parent's flight when they flew in from hawaii to California via a website that uses Flight explorer's data.

When they landed, the data still stated that their plane was in the air. I got a phone call from them when they landed so i could get a good sense of when to leave to pick them up from the airport, and according to the website, THEY were still 5 minutes outside of LAX.

This was 2007.
