Actually it was a large area, 28% of the total area. The point is:The "core area" was a small fraction of the floor. The rest of the floor was filled with flammable material.
The fires could not have weakened the columns in the interior of the core.
It takes time to heat up steel. The fires were hotter than 250[FONT="]°[/FONT]C but they did not heat the core columns to more than 250[FONT="]°[/FONT]C.Clearly, the floors on fire were hotter than 250C.
