Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Not one bit. I want to make fun and ridicule this absurd and stupid practice into extinction so that anyone would be ashamed to perform magic on their children.

So you don't want to take away people's right to freedom of religion, you just want to make fun of and ridicule parts of the religion they choose.

Which part of "I want to make fun and ridicule this absurd and stupid practice into extinction so that anyone would be ashamed to perform magic on their children" do you not understand?

So it is your opinion that praying, which is done at exorcisms, and done daily by George Washington, is a form of magic.
I didn't say that.

Do you believe dishonesty and lying is a form of demon possesion?

So I would assume you too think praying which is a big part of a exorcism should be made fun of and called stupid and absurd. Do you feel the same of George Washington's daily prayers.

Yes. I make fun of stupid delusional and harmful things.
That is a bad thing how?

But saying prayers is a big part of a exorcism, and you said exorcism is magic and that you want to make fun of it.
Exorcism is superstitious nonsense, ridiculous superstitious nonsense.

Ridicule: making fun of (derogatorily)

Why are you labouring such trivial aspects of this farce?

Are you enjoying your dishonest attempt at putting words in people's mouths?

Did Georgie use prayer to magic his way into victory? Did he use it to destroy demons? Did it ever affect its actions?

Prayer is nothing more than wishful thinking. It becomes harmful if someone uses prayer as a crutch. Actions matter. I don't care if someone prays in private. I do care if someone does some retarded ceremony to drive out demons, cure illness or win the lottery.

If George Washington wasted his time on a daily (!) basis on nonsensical, futile prayers: Yes

Well other then the fact that angels are reported all over the bible by several different authors and are mentioned by Christ and Paul (the apostle), I do have a friend that quite seriously claims they saw two angels hovering by the ceilling in a church as a child.

So personally I have more evidence that angels exist than I have evidence that living organisms came from non-living chemicals.

Any particular reason they were hovering in a church?

These were probably the famous Blue Angels, a US naivey demonstration team.

Did Georgie {Washington} use prayer to magic his way into victory? Did he use it to destroy demons?...

Well he certainly hoped to use prayer for protection against "the cunning of the devil" as evidenced by his Monday evening prayers. I've heard he said prayers twice a day.

From the George Washington's Prayer Journal - Monday Night Prayers - from the Eadshome website:

"Suffer me not to be drawn from thee, by the blandishments of the world, carnal desires, the cunning of the devil, or deceitfulness of sin."

If you read post 13, you will see my and answers.com definition of evidence.

And yet this:

The fact that the Catholic Church feels it is still necessary to perform exorcisms and some parents are agreeing to let this procedure be done on their child (after much medical testing) is evidence that when the NT writers reported on Jesus casting out demonic spirits they might have been telling the truth.

Is in no way helpful for forming a judgement on whether the NT writers were telling the truth.

Okay. It seems like a generic prayer but if he really believe in it and believed that his prayer had some magic effect, I agree with Six7, it is absurd and a waste of time.

Even the best of men can be retarded by religion.

If DOC wants to come back and play "Ooooh, you called Georgie retarded." No I didn't. I did call one of his beliefs absurd though.

Just as I will call Newton's Alchemy, Tesla's super Earthquake and death ray machine or many other smart folks with silly beliefs absurd.

So, DOC, considering that you are willing to believe in angels. Do you believe that Joseph smith met angels which took the gold tablets back from him?

Are you willing to become mormon?

You forget that the Church only does this after much medical testing has exhausted all possibilities and other criteria is met. And I assume you want to take away the parents (if not the effected person's) own right to freedom of religion.

Ooooh, d**n that :rule10. If there were ever a post that called for the full eight-letter word as a reply, this is it.

No
No, their concept of God is very different from mainline Christianity. And we thus get into the Law of Non-Contradiction. They believe God (the Father) exists in human form similar to you and me and lives on the planet Kolob. This is extremely different from mainline Christianity where God (the Father) is spirit. Most people are unaware of this. They do some good work though.

I guess you could tack on the other 40 or so presidents who claimed to be Christian to that list.
