Hamas Wants Civilian Casualties

Something has to break because Israel doesn't look like it's going to be signing anything that doesn't ensure that Hamas can't launch rockets at Israel and I don't think Hamas can fathom peace with Israel.

There comes a point that reality sets in that the Neighborhood is just not big enough for the 2 of them.

It is impossible to ensure that Hamas can't launch rockets. That is akin to asking for assurance that no one will cheat on their taxes.

The best that Israel can hope for is to decrease (but not eliminate) the ability to launch rockets and change the equation such that those who have the capability (mostly) decide it's not worth the cost.

I think there is something else that could be achieved and that would be for the political climate to change so that the Palestinian representatives are no longer able to support such attacks.

ok. he just told me he does not speak arabic. maybe i heard him speaking farsi or berber. sorry about that.

Yup. he speaks Moroccan. my guess was close. =)

So he does speak Arabic then, just not Standard Arabic. There's no language called simply "Moroccan". Rather there's a dialect of Arabic called Moroccan Arabic, but it's barely mutually-intelligible with Standard Arabic or the Levantine varieties of Arabic, such as Palestinian Arabic.

His friend with the CIA and DOD should have no problem translating it. If he can know for a fact that the US military does not make any mistakes, he should be able to get 30 secs of a video translated.

That would be ideal but what is the mechanism to achieve that?

Damn, too bad there is no one in the entire world who can verify if the translation is correct!

There's extremism on both sides.

Unfortunately the extremism in Israel is in it's government and has the backing of the US. The extremism on the Palestinians side has to make do with primitive rockets.

The poor old innocent Israeli and Palestinian citizens are the only losers.

Why don't the Zionists on this forum support the Israeli citizens instead of supporting the extremists in power who are driving the murders and sectarianism in order to pursue expansionism and hegemony?

Gaza War Protest and Anti-Israel Rally

I was deeply touched by the mother with the "Jews are Terroist" placard, sharing the experience with her two young daughters. It's right up there with the best Norman Rockwell.

The spelling gives the game away. These people are morons for not even bothering to check the spelling on a protest banner.

And they are also morons for making it a Jewish issue.

Israel are terroists[sic] would be fine. Because that's how they are acting.

??????

Why are all the "kill the Arabs" signs just grafitti? Why are no protestors carrying these types of signs? How hard is it to create propaganda by faking it?

Parky, why do you always assume the very worst when it comes to any issues? Why don't you use skepticism and critical thinking? You are willing to condemn, in general terms, the attrocity and crime of the Palestinians but you never start threads critical of Palestinians. Why?

And what then? Mass deportations? Mass executions? Then there would be only one of them and everything would be solved.

Failing that sort of final solution, the only real solution would be, somehow, to convince both sides that there really isn't a hill of beans difference between the two sides and it isn't worth fighting about what ethnic group or religious group runs the show, and instead just has a government that makes sure the roads are paved and the kids have schools.

Somehow, I don't see that happening any time soon.

What a freak show, and over educated uber liberal San Fransisco to boot.

I've got to confess my general ignorance on the history of this conflict, but I've been reading literally thousands of posts and articles since the IDF started their action and I'm no closer to passionately "picking a side" than I was when I first started.

IMO...I'm drowning in propaganda and sometimes I'm tempted to jump on a plane and head over there to see for myself...oh wait, that's not the brightest idea now is it? But you get my drift.

It seems to me just what point in time you pick as a "starting" point to this conflict is crucial. The Israelis blockaded Gaza! Genocide! Ethnic cleansing! Therefore, the rockets are "justified" ( no doubt the suicide bombers are too, but I've yet to see the pro Palestine, or anti Israel side come out and say this online )

But the Israelis blockaded Palestine because they avowed to wipe them off the map. ( but, according to some, they don't pay to much attention to that article in the Hamas charter, so it's "unimportant" )

All the Palestinians want is the right to return to their "homes"

They lost those "homes" in a war started...not by Israel....

Yikes.

I'm tending more to support Israel, just because the the pro Palestinian side appears to be trying to BS me more than the pro Israel side. I mean I know what genocide is, I know what ethnic cleansing is and try as I might, I just can't shoehorn those terms into what's happening on the ground.

I do dislike being manipulated and since the anti Israel side seems to be the one trying to BS me the most, I'll side with "the other guys"...for the time being.

Can you indicate which one of parky's pictures are the Israeli government?

Meanwhile, I can show you lots of extremism from the actual Palestinian government if you'd like...
