Fake Child Death Video From Hamas?

Israel's enemies have a history of such behavior. Just google fauxtography hezbollah for over 12,000 hits.

Nevertheless, I'm leaning towards this one being legit.

FWIW, in response to WildCat's question how someone can watch his own brother dying and film the whole thing, I've said it before and I'll say it again: The only thing a Palestinian loves as much as a dead Jew is a dead Palestinian.

Homogeneity of Palestinians?

At 00:39-00:40 I can see no pressure at all being applied while doing the CPR.
Also doesn't the CPR look too fast? I'm no expert on this but as far as I know you need to do the pumping at 1 second intervals.

CPR recommendations have changed over the past several years. The Red Cross now recommends compression rates of 100 per minute.

IIRC compressions should be about 2 inches in adult, 1 1/2 inches in children, and 1 inch in infants. It is not clear to me from the video whether they were performing standard CPR or open heart massage.

I suppose that it is possible that they could have faked the video, but the benefit of doing so is nil, the chance of being found out high, and loss of credibility if found out hardly worth the risk. I would assume it is genuine unless supplied with better evidence it is not: evidence of digital editing, photos of the child alive and well, etc.

Ni way in hell was it open heart massage.

:( Are you going to quote that in your sig?

He says, he wants the world to know. Sounds like he is very passionate about letting the world know about his brothers death, which would be a very strong motivation, that he didn't die in vain.

There's not anything to be gained by pursuing this topic. If you're wrong, you're trivializing the death of a child.

Your only evidence is that you think the chest compressions weren't strong enough and the kid's head wasn't rolling around the way you think it should.

It's best to just drop it.

After the 2006 ambulance fiasco I take nothing for granted, especially when it involves Mads Gilbert and a cameraman who hosts Hamas web sites on the side.

Nah, I never put my own quotes in my sig. And besides, E.J. the Replybot is the best thing I have going in there right now.

If you would like to use it and link to the post, you are perfectly welcome.

This thread has the ring of "I know it's fake, I've seen lots of photoshops in my time..." to it.

Depending on the age and size of a child, chest compressions are performed much lighter to avoid damage to the other organs. Also, if that's really a doctor doing the compressions then it's indicative of the fate of doctors there right now-- they're pretty much working almost constantly around the clock dealing with people.

I see nothing obviously fake about the video. I don't think it reflects well on the kid for having Hamas fan sites, but that doesn't change the believability of the video, just the possible motivations.

Another thing is the brother filming while his brother is under CPR and dying. That doesn't seem like normal child behavior. Wouldn't you be shocked, almost paralyzed if your brother's life was on the line after seeing him get hit by a bomb? I would be devastated, barely standing on my feet not to mention not being able to hold a camera and tape the whole thing.
But I'm no doctor and I wasn't there so who knows.
Unless CPR has changed since I taught it (Red Cross volunteer in Nashville) the compression rate is app 100 - 120 per minute for infants, 8o or so for older children and 60 for adults. two fingers for infant, one hand for children, two hands for adults.

Wow so when faced with your country's handiwork, its all a Conspiracy Theory and a lie. If the Hamas people are willing to do all this why not just hack up a bunch of babies and pile them up and video tape them as victims?
I'm sure they would if they thought they could plant evidence that it was done by Israelis. What do you expect of things that hide among innocent civilians.
Which cannot be denied unless you refuse to accept proven material from even Gaza/Palestinian sources.

In all fairness, I believe the first "Palestinian" should be changed to "Hamas rectum eater". Not all Palestinians are Hamas or Hamas supporters. Many just want to live a normal life - much as you and me!!

As noted in post #22, it has changed. 100 or so for everyone.

Regardless, that kids chest sure isn't being compressed 1.5 inches. It's not being compressed at all.

do you think the kid is faking his death? or why do you think his head didnt move/fall natural?

If the kid was dead the guy doing "chest compressions" culd have actually done that without hurting the kid. If he was alive and acting it explains why he's just using his fingertips and also why the camera doesn't pan down except very briefly.

His head did move at one point, which means that rigor mortis hadn't set in. Also, the body doesn't look stiff. From what I understand rigor mortis sets in after 3 hours, doubtful he went from death to grave in that time.

But what really gets my spidey-senses tingling is that of all the doctors in Gaza, we get Mads Gilbert! And that this videographer also hosts Hamas web sites on the side. It has propaganda written all over it.

The only 2 news sites that I've seen carrying the video are CNN and Channel 4, and CNN took theirs down.

I will admit it is not textbook CPR. You will also note that no one is making an attempt to ventilate the patient. It looks to me like this was a brief, half-hearted attempt by doctors who knew the patient was already dead. If I am not mistaken, the second doctor says "extreme bradycardia" and "flat line".

I believe that if someone wished to fake the death of a child, they could have made the video more bloody and more graphic. There are plenty of dead kids in Gaza from which to choose. You have not presented me with any compelling reason to doubt its authenticity.

It's a losing battle. There is only one media narrative coming out of Gaza now and that is "dead kids". It is now reaching the point of absurdity with the UN stating that 35% of all deaths are kids.
