Merged What knocked over the lightpoles, if not AA77?

Sure, calculate the kinetic energy involved in each event, the time of travel between the various impacts, and the shear strengths involved. That should give you a good start on the answer.
I don't know about you but, Isn't it getting tiresome stating the obvious?

Nah, I keep hoping one of them will actually attempt the math. Sometimes it is hilarious (TLB's 0.001%), sometimes it is informative (most of Gregory Urich's calcs), sometimes it may actually lead to a CTist learning something.

Anybody care to comment(or more to the point, make an excuse)as to why a sizeable plane gets its wing torn off by a light pole..but 77 didnt by several poles, didnt by a thick wall, and a majical plane at the WTC made it inside a steel building with nothing falling off and sailing to the ground on impact, below the entry.

Wings are strong at the root, but mighty frail at their extremities.

Ok genius, Compare the kinetic energy of these four collisions
http://www.rec-tec.com/CX4.html

Note the speed of the light pole, And the speed of flight 77. Write that down if you have to.

Find which example out of the four I linked to has the most kinetic energy

Compare.

Hitting even a light pole can take a wing off, or damage it seriously.

Its perfectly foolish to think that the wings would make it through a reinforced wall intact.

It equally foolish to think the wings would make it all the way inside a WTC tower, And that NOTHING from the plane would fall to the earth down the impact wall from the collision.

Only here is stuff like that believed. You people amaze me

From the LA times:

Authorities said the Gulfstream III was 1 1/2 miles from the runway when it hit a light pole on Beltway 8, a toll road that encircles the outskirts of the city. Part of the jet’s wing was sheared off by the impact; the pole was bent in half.
Oops, the wing was sheared off by impact with ground after hitting pole.

Italy, a navy plane cuts a cable car and kills the skiers, his wing did not shear off when cutting a very strong cable not made to breakaway like the lamppost 77 knocked down easily.

You amaze me on how bad you are at research and understanding flying, physics, and simple topics involving breakaway lamppost.

As for wings entering buildings, it depends on the energy and the object, I did not see wings cut large holes in the Pentagon, seems they are able to use heavy building materials on short buildings, but in the WTC the thin skin, albeit very strong but light, was cut by parts of the wings due to the extreme kinetic energy of a large moving aircraft. Got physics. There is a physics document on line talking about karate, it is based on energy and speed. How do hands cut through wood and concrete? Wow.

You are wrong. You don't know why.

I have to admit I miss GregoryUrich in that he would at least try (and more often than not successfully) support his position with verifiable math. I somehow can't fit him into the "truther" category. I think those days however (considering the latest crop) are over.

You don't even understand how ridiculous it is to compare these two events.
You grasp firmly to your DELUSIONS despite EVIDENCE to the contrary.
You are desperate.
There are Psychiatrists who may be able to provide meds for this.
Time to run back to PFT/CIT forums and tell them your masters you defeated us.

Sure, the lightpoles are special design for use within 1 mile of an airport. They have a special base plate that causes the pole to collapse before serious damage can (In theory) be done to an aircraft. They are designed to be brought down by a small vehicle traveling as slow as 20 mph or so

Wow, another Truth Movement person repeating an argument debunked for him, personally, months ago. I wish I was surprised, but I am not.

While we are talking plane crashes

A few years back a large Gulfstream(capable of carrying a number of passengers crashed in Texas. If i remember correctly, this plane was used to carry first President Bush around at times.

It was manned by a skilled pilot and co-pilot.

It hit ONE light pole and crashed immediately, even with a veteran pilot aboard, and that ONE pole knocked its wing off.

Lucky old Hani, who had never in his life flown a large plane, supposedly hits 4 or 5 lightpoles, and in spite of this, continues leveling off and hits the Pentagon just about the level of the bottom of his engines no worse for wear.

Pretty remarkable

"Houston Fire Department District Chief Jack Williams said the twin-engine Gulfstream jet, arriving from Dallas Love Field, apparently clipped a tall light tower at a Beltway 8 toll plaza, SHEARING OFF A WING. He said the severed wing rests near the base of the tower. "

Bolding mine............

And yes, the Gulfstream is smaller than Hani's plane, but it was still a large plane with Multi engines, flown by experts with many hours flight time.

The tainted meat the denizens of this site continue to feast on is going to one day come back up;)

All I can say is...:mgduh

No worse for wear? The plane crashed about a tenth of a second later, killing everyone on board.

It hit multiple light poles, and supposedly didnt lose a wing or its air worthyness a hundred yards later:rolleyes:

Again, there was no crash their either, just regurgitating the OCT.

It's official: Truthers Discover Time Travel!!

See here and here.

I'm going to start putting on Ignore people who aren't smart enough to put these Truthers on Ignore. I mean it.

In addition to the differences between planes, the differences between the light posts in question may be relevant as well.

Pentagon light poles were designed to break away very easily. They looked like this:

There are many different styles of light posts--some are thick concrete all the way to the lamp itself. We can't make any judgment here until we know what kind of light posts were at that toll plaza.

Basic arithmetic, roundhead: how long does it take to travel one hundred yards at 400 mph?

For as smart a guy as you claim to be, you sure seem to have no problem carrying around a bucket of water for years that is known to be full of holes. You need only look at it and see the leaks.

I am probably 1/4 as well educated as you are, but it must be common sense that i have as an advantage. I would have swapped out that bucket for one without holes years ago...

It honestly makes me think there is much more to your agenda..................

Each to his own

How do you know it was still "air worthy"? It crashed a fraction of a second later. Where you expecting it just to stop in midair?

We, however, can make the judgement that in flight a wing is quite tender, and that just one pole took a wing clean off a 20+ seater twin engine jet immediately.

And in Hani's case, multiple poles seemingly had zero effect, a notable distinction.
