Blagojevich's Crime: Honesty

Posted by James Ostrowski at December 10, 2008 07:13 AM

"So far as I can tell, Rod Blagojevich's crime is honesty.

Most politicians on a daily basis trade political power for favors such as campaign donations, jobs for machine members and contracts for allies.

Want a list of government contractors? Just look at campaign finance records.

I take it that Rod's crime was being honest about it."

Perhaps. In that case, most politicians on a daily basis are breaking the law.

If you can actually substantiate your claim above, then you have sufficient grounds (probable cause) to wiretap their phones and have them arrested. I would speak to your local US Attorney as soon as possible, since they will be extremely interested.

Just look to see if the public offical took any money from private interests for probable cause.

PS - The claim was made by James Ostrowski, a lawyer from Buffalo. I agree with his claim.

Who was he honest with? Certainly not the public. If you consider it honest to openly discuss how you plan to break the law with your closest aids and potential co-conspirators, then yeah, he's plenty honest.

No, I'm pretty sure it was trying to sell a US Senate seat.

Under current law, that is not illegal, if the deal is structured properly. I expect the feds to procuce the complete deal as finalized by each party to the contract.

He just cut out the BS and told us what he was going to do. He even knew he was being tapped. Ever heard of freedom of speech?

Freedom of speech does not include freedom to conspire to commit a crime.

Remind me again. Where, exactly, did you attend law school? When did you graduate? And in which jurisdictions are you a member of the bar?

Oh, yeah. You're blowing other people's smoke again....

You are a defender of political horse-trading and log-rolling.

You're really going to use "freedom of speech" to defend a guy who threatened to hold up the sale of a baseball team if the owners, who happened to be a newspaper, didn't fire members of the editorial staff he considered enemies for saying mean things about him?

Legendary. :boggled:

You just defend political corruption as usual. Doesn't surprise me in the least.

I keep taking you off my ignore list, then the first time you post a new thread I remember why you were there.

And back you go.

your logic doesn't follow, but I did notice you ignored the problem of political corruption in your last post.

Have YOU ever heard of freedom of speech and do you have any idea of what it legally means? Ever heard of conspiracy?

Wow. Now that is something I didn't expect to see: A Blagojevich apologist. I mean, the guy was caught on tape conspiring to sell Obama's Senate seat.
