It's the always charming John Bolton ;)

Obama takes New Mexico

?

NBC shows it going the other way, which is against predictions - you saying Obama's won it? Hope so, I told my mate in Albuquerque I'd shoot him if GOP won NM.

In fact, it's NYT says McCain, NBC says Obama. Does each side use its own system to count votes?

The BBC is where I saw it, I think they got it from ABC.

CNN is showing McCain way ahead there, but that's with only 4% of precincts reporting in.

California is an absolute lock for Obama, The Reps have more chance of losing AZ than winning CA.
That's what I thought. I don't see how Obama can lose at this point. That doesn't mean that I won't be hanging on every result coming in though.

CNN have the same.

One of the local McCain campaign people in Virginia predicted they would lose Virginia earlier, hopefully he's right.

Obama 57-43 in North Carolina

John Bolton whining like a chastised toddler on the BBC.

Virginia, NC, Florida - Obama looking like the clean sweep of East Coast marginals. (battlegrounds, I gather Seppos call them)

Don't count Missouri out yet. In one polling place in St. Louis County, they had some problems resulting in terrible long wait time. They are just finishing voting there (2 hours past the closing time). So far, they're not reporting any results from that county. St. Louis City, as expected, is running 89% Obama.

There are a lot of votes to count in the big cities in Indiana, Virginia, and North Carolina. Indiana was supposed to be McCain Country, but it's down to a less-than 5000 plurality and has been closing all night. Virginia just went over to an Obama lead for the first time tonight. And North Carolina has O with a 50K plurality, but shrinkin.

OKAY IOWA IN OBAMA COLUMN. THAT'S 206 OR 207 (CNN is counting one vote in Maine as still doubtful, but others have concluded Obama wins the state).

Whereabouts is the problem? What precinct?

CNN is calling Iowa with 0% of precincts reporting. I guess he most have totally swamped McCain in the exit polls.

"Statistics for Dummies" gives a good explanation about scientific sampling.

Velda City. I don't know the precinct. They had only one small room, so they set up, I think, one touch screen and only 2 privacy screens for paper ballots. (I don't know why local news keeps reporting those as "voting machines".) They also weren't allowing people to fill out the scantron paper ballots except in the "booths"--until someone pointed out that the rules allow people to vote out where they can be seen if they so choose. After people waited 5 hours plus in the afternoon, the right people were contacted, and the mayor of Velda City let them use a second room. They eventually got additional poll workers too.

I heard there were long lines in the afternoon in Dellwood as well.

ETA: These are both in North St. Louis County.
