I'm pretty sure that logos and seals of government organizations are on display SOMEWHERE.

Yes, and I'm pretty sure that the one on the right hand side of this memo isn't one of them. I can't be certain, because it was too fuzzy in the link, but it didn't look very serious.

Non-blog link with high-res scan.

According to the link, this type of thing happens every year, and is not meant as a harmless joke.

The last quote in the article is important.

Charles Zelden via ABC News said:
"For 98 to 99 percent of us, it's not going to be a problem," Zelden said. "But if the vote's only one or two percent apart from each other, that one or two percent determines who wins and loses. That one or two percent can make the difference between victory or defeat."

It is important to note that although the presidential race affects everyone across the nation, there are any number of local races that are more important in terms of direct effects on the voters. This type of fraud, joke or not, is reprehensible.

But that 1% are stupid anyways, and we don't want their vote.

They don't deserve to be Americans. ;)

Whether it is "ok" or not is not the question. The question was whether or not it is a joke, and it is.

There are lots of stupid jokes in the world. There are lots of jokes that are potentially harmful. I don't generally like those sorts of jokes, but that doesn't mean they aren't jokes.

I will admit that I cannot read minds, but I believe that the intent of this flyer was to make fun of people, not to suppress votes. At first, I didn't think it was funny, but, frankly, I found it funnier as I read more, because I perceived the true target of the humor. It isn't the people who are so stupid that they might be duped by such an obvious fraud. It is the people who will get up in arms about such an obvious fraud.

They are tweaking your noses, and you are falling for it.
No. You are wrong. Lying to voters to attempt to disenfranchise them is illegal and the perps should be prosecuted to the full extent of the federal law passed in June 2007. I suggest you purchase an authentic sense of humor, rather than the deficient one you presently possess at Buyasenseofhumor.com.

Well, I saw this as a pretty obvious attempt at humor, although I suppose a few people might fall for it. After all, Someone must believe the Nigerian scams or they wouldn't keep sending out the emails. I would put this joke on a par with joking about hijackings at an airport security check. One step above the old FBI: Federal Breast Inspector badge.

This is done with malice and shows disrespect and contempt for an entire category of human beings, and is funny mostly to lower life forms like the rushblob.

Where is your eviedence of malice and contempt? It could be argued, perhaps much more parsimoniously, that it is simply thoughtless.

Thoughtless? No. It was a cunning attempt to disenfranchise people, not a joke, a thing that Tricky Dick and his plumbers would have lept upon.

"Cunning"? Really? How many were disenfranchised? How do you read another person's mind or infer their intentions in this instance?

You and lefty just know because you know?

It may have been intentional but we don't know how many were even passed around. If it's 3 it's not very cunning. So even if we assume one of your premises we can't establish the other, but hey, why let skepticism and critical thinking spoil the party.

That is pretty much the way I see it.
The way people are overreacting to a dumb joke like this is freaking unbeleivable.
Hey, if the GOP was intent on stealing this election this a pisspoor tactic to use.

You call these stupid leaflets cunning?

I think you are letting your obvious hate for the GOP overrule any common sense you might have.
These leaflets are on a par with someone removing the signs in front of polling places in heavily Democratic districts as a tactic.

It's a well-known joke that has appeared in opposite forms (just replace "Republican" with "Democrat" and vice versa) for several POTUS elections now.

It's certainly not an attempt at vote fraud.

Sorry if the foreigners got confused.

PS - being a registered party member is only an issue in the primaries in some states, it has nothing to do with the general election anywhere.

Why is disliking Republicans who think Rover and the rushblob are funny a sign of lack of sense? I am tired of Republicans acting out like total brats and then shrieking "You just hate our Dear Leader" when we tell them to stop it.

Anybody doing either should, if caught in the act, be physucally taken to the nearest police officer. To bad for them if they think they have a right to "defend" themselves when confronted by superior numbers.

Says the guy who jokes about burning down homes and says in all seriousness, "it was just a joke".

Pot, kettle. Kettle, pot.

I have seen some Obama supporters..and on this site....become rabid if any criticism is made of Obama. It a common trait among fantatics of ALL political beliefs.

Look, I do not approve of these leaflets. It is just that they are so stupid and lame I don't think anybody who was trying to steal an election would waste time on them.

So, because something is a piss-poor tactic to use, no one would ever use it?

Wow, you must think that everyone in the world is a genius. I wish I could live in your utopia.

Oh, and news flash: You keep complaining about how people are blaming the GOP. What you don't get is, I am criticizing the individuals who distributed the pamphlets, and those that defend them.

I don't know why you haven't caught that by now.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure that it's a sure bet that conservatives passed these leaflets out. If you have evidence of otherwise, I would want to see it. And I'm also pretty pissed at how many conservatives on various blogs are defending the actions of what occurred. This after years of "patriotism", "duty", "sacrifice" that they shove into our face all the time. Apparently, it doesn't matter when it's "just a joke" mocking the system they supposedly support.

It's about time someone called them on their supposed values.

My obvious hate for the GOP? What a tool. I never said it was from the GOP, I just said that it violated the law. You might get a look on the previous posts where this is demonstrated.
