Australia will not prosecute Ahmadinejad

Is this the JREF new photo contest?? :)
Why signs allegedly in Iran have translations in English?
For Iranian people who can not read Iranian Persian?

Dishonest.

"The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time".

Ok, let's try something. If GWB said "this regime occupying Germany must vanis from the page of time."

How would Germans take that? Inflamatory? Damn straight.

Or if GWB said that "we are considering all the options with Germany, including nuking them (nuclear)", how would the Germans react?

(sigh)

Marcello, to point out the obvious, they use English in the signs for the very simple reason that English is an international language and that they want non-Arabic (or non-Farsi) speakers to undestand what they write, too. Check out advertisement and/or political slogans just about anywhere in the world, you'll find English is very often used.

Incidentally, it's amusing that you are offering us an "analysis" of what Iran is "really like" when you don't even know what language the Iranians speak. Ah well. Quick, what is the second-largest city in Iran? Apart from oil and gas, what else does it export?

Oh look, Oliver thinks if he can repeat the lie often enough it is then true!

Because we do, in fact, know how the Iranians themselves interpret it into English:

Um why would they be targeting some of the thickest armour on the Merkava at an angle that would likely only result in the destruction of the engine if it did penitrate?

Perhaps it's just propaganda put together in photoshop by someone who was more interested in a compelling graphic rather than tactical accuracy.

Just a thought.:)

Well! Their factually incorrect propaganda certainly hasn't won me over! Me-thinks the Iranian religious far-right could learn a thing or two from America's religious far-right.

Redundant, but factually accurate.

Persian.
Whatever.

Thanks. I guess it's being a miliary brat, but it's a peeve a mine when people aren't specific about languages or ethnicities.

Oriental is a rug or ramen flavor, not an ethnicity folks...

:D

Next you will be saying Americans don't speak American.

I don't know about you, but I don't "speak American"... I talk 'mercian. :D

/me disappears in a singularity of American cultural hegemony and cosmopolitanism.

Why they would want English-speaking people to see the signs in.. uh.. the middle of Tehran?
What do you think, my dear Sherlock?

Official languages Persian
Recognised regional languages constitutional recognition of the regional languages such as Azeri, Kurdish, and Mazandarani, and Gilaki[1]

I doubt very many tourists coming to Iran speak Farsi, but many of them will speak English.

I remember the pics of the Iraq invasion where the street signs were in Arabic and English, as if Saddam didn't want the Americans and British to get lost on the way to Baghdad!

It's known as Farsi within Iran. "Persia" and "Persian" are western terms.

So much ado about nothing.
Why not instead you and RandFan talk about the issue in discussion?

I doubt very many tourists coming to Iran speak Farsi, but many of them will speak English.
[..]

And what would be the reason?
To try to involve in an anti-Israel crusade the occasional Swedish tourist?
