No, it's yet another slippery answer. You were asked to answer A or B, and you answered NOT B. Thus you implied, but did not actually say, A. Grow up already and just answer the damn question.

It is difficult for one to give a direct answer, when they do not have a direct answer that will truly answer the question as posed. It is a game that one will use when they cannot honestly answer the question. By frustrating the questioner they believe they have won. I have witnessed this many times during interrogations. This gentleman is a master at this tactic, at least in his own mind.

Welcome! :)

Welcome to JREF, and an excellent assessment. :) I would add that employing such a tactic demonstrates avoidance. Since the questions being put to him are in regard to his claimed abilities, one has to wonder why he would wish to avoid discussion of such.

daSkeptic. Thank you for the welcome. My assessment comes after reviewing his numerous posts of the MagicCafe', as well as here. Never a direct answer, and believe me a view of the threads on the MagicCafe' will show it also. Basically, he is one who wants to set his own "rules of engagement", and not abide by the rules as set forth. His recent postings on YouTube, display that if he can't get his way, then his mode is to launch a counter attack, almost similar to a "Child’s tantrum". "My way or no way". Such a pity.

My answer was adequate and factual.

I never made the claim of being supernatural or paranormal.
You people have claimed that of me.
But I have not.

Saw no reason for me to defend or respond to claims I have never made.

But I have now because it is becoming tiresome to watch some of you pitching stones from a position of self imposed ignorance.

Now this might be seen as a counter attack and that will be fun if that is the claim.
Given the truth that was asked for is now in front of you.

What will happen now?
This is becoming fun!

Classic schoolyard bully mentality. He may look big and menacing, but underneath the facade is a scared little boy. A pity indeed.

Why is this so hard to understand.
No it is not a magic act.

That is a direct answer.

-Jim

Divulging objects hidden in a box(as seen on Phenomenon)=magic trick.
Divulging word unseen in a book you give to spectator(as seen on some lame clip on YouTube somewhere)=magic trick.
Having a large brick fall over without touching it=magic trick
Having "free" choices of places and objects/words appear on a dvd/tape=magic trick.
Spectator bending a nail you give them=magic trick.
Rolling about on the floor pretending to be channelling a dead author=lame magic trick.

Is there some part of your act I'm missing?

Blah blah blah, 96 posts and still nothing. I suppose one can infer from your post that you enjoy being tired? You did say this is both tiresome and fun, did you not?

As for being paranormal, I don't think anybody ever mentioned anything of the kind. Did someone accuse you of being a ghost or something? You, on the other hand, have claimed to deal in the paranormal. You are a self-described "paranormalist." The suffix -ist means one who practices a subject.

Expecting Jim to understand grammar is like expecting OJ Simpson to understand good husbandry. :)

Ok then, yes I do deal in the Paranormal experiences and events as stated on my website.

Not unlike what I am working on for the 31st of October.

Paranormal experiences dressed as magic tricks.Magc tricks dressed as paranormal experiences.Undistinguishable from each other as far as I can tell.Wonder why that is?

Maybe you haven't read this thread and others related to Callahan, but people continually put him on the spot and the best he can do is an ad hominem and avoid actually responding to any questions.

Buzz, would you agree that the question, "Callahan, is what you do actually paranormal or is it a magic act?" an acceptable "on the spot" question for him? His response will be "You decide." I think we both know that's not an answer.

Vulcan, my interest in this forum is to see the responses to the various post, particularly my own.

I look back at the responses that I gave in my early days in this forum and compare them to those I give now.
I have found the ability to express thoughts in a written form, to a hostile audience, is something that has to be learned.

At the moment Jim is struggling somewhat with the different posters that address him.

No doubt if he is genuine and continues to post on this forum his style will mature. He will contemplate his replies better and present his thoughts without the knee jerk reactions of someone responding too quickly.

It will be good if this happens as he represents the other side of the coin to the general run of the mill member here.

I suggest you cut him some slack and find out what he has to say.
It is only by engaging in dialogue with others of opposing views, can we hope to learn.

I think the better question for Jim is Do you have paranormal powers? Yes or No? Just one simple yes or no answer will do. Nothing extra please. Oh and Jim I am looking forward to what you will do in October

As a member of this forum,a skeptic,a magician I take umbrage at a "magician" calling James Randi "scum" as Callahan does on one of his "art projects" or as we call it YouTube.
Traditionally magic is about respecting your peers and those that are respected in the industry.Callahan is likely forgotten by most already, and I think losing out on Phenomenon was a bitter pill to swallow.

Especially when Angela Funovits who succeded him on the show http://www.angelafunovits.com/bio.html
gets such plaudits for sub standard act. :D

I must say Azrael I do agree with you. I do not like it that anyone called Randi scum. Randi has done a excellent job in exposing con artists and the like. I have nothing but the highest respect for Mr. Randi. I myself became a skeptic once I started seeing the tricks I learned were being performed by some as psychic tricks when they are nothing more than smoke and mirrors. I do not believe in any superstition or paranormal event, but, hopefully someone can prove us wrong! I don't care who I want someone to prove me wrong by taking the test and winning the million and than having science accept the results.. We would have discovered something wonderful! It would change our lives forever and the way we live! =]

Why the 31st, why Halloween? What's so special about that day aside from the hype you get for it being "halloween"?

Any self respecting pagan will tell you Samhain is actually November 7th this year.
