Truthers make up .001% of the USA

Compare that .001% to debunkers that show up at truther rallies.
I`m guessing .00000000001%. Gravy is literally one in a millions.

This is it? The best you can do is complain there are no debunkers at your failure rallies!

Do you want to try to fix your fellow truther's math?

The Truthers want us at their rallies? Does their masochism know no bounds?

The LonelyBasementBedroom's math skillz kill me

The current population of the U.S. is 301,139,947.

301,139,947 x .001= 301,139.947

301,139 ~= 3,000

*~= means does not equal

I know the laughing kennel tag wont work today. But i am hoping, some day in the future, it will.

What happened to writing '≠' ? Or even '!=' ?
I tend to associate '~=' with expressions like "roughly equals", "approximately" and so on...

[/nerd mode off]

In all fairness, I generally use "~=". Of course, I use it because I do a lot of programing in Matlab which, oddly enough, is a maths program. Given TheLoneBedouin's apparent maths skills, I really don't know where he gets it from.

So if truthers make up .001% of the US...I wonder how that compares to the number of:

- Flat-earthers
- Holocaust-deniers
- Convicted Felons
- Goat-people

It also means that the 1 truther I've met in my entire life is likely the only one I will ever meet, since there is roughly 1 for every 100,000 people.

I'm not sure about the total number of convicted felons living in the USA, but estimates are that there are roughly 30,000 of them living in the Kansas City Metro Area alone.* And, I don't think that includes the ones currently in jail, just the ones that have been released or never served time.

*Kansas City Metro is about 1.5 million people, so that would be roughly 2% of the population there. Just think about that before getting into any major disputes with JimBenArm . . .

Yeah. What he said.

Interesting. I tend to see "Execution aborted due to compilation errors." and assume he mistyped "apply this regular expression to"

Can I bag the million dollars by predicting that: The Lone Bedouin will never return to this thread. Not only that, he will never refer to it in future. Not only that, he will deny that he ever posted here, that his posts even if they did exist had any maths in them, and if they did have maths, were somehow suborned by The Man.

ETA: In light of the above, I believe that voting on the issue of "Roast or barbecue" has now opened for the genus Meleagris Gallopavo, concerning 25/12/08 (European and UK Date Notation)

I've been trying to get Matlab on my computer at work (we have a number of network licenses, apparently). I'm tired of working with Excel/VBA - it's just not the same.

i love how no truthers have come to question the .001% number. cause they know it to be true.

=)

10%....
.001%

whats the difference right?

=)

Of course, mathematically speaking, difference and ratio are quite different.

The difference between .10 and .00001 is .0999.

The ratio between 10% and .001% is 10,000.

When the ratios are applied to the population of the USA, the difference is 30,496,950 people.

Don't you mean .1%? 10% of 300,000,000 is 30,000,000.

I think those symbols are taught right after '%'.
The tilde is a sign for negation in symbolic logic. As already noted '~=' is used in many programming languages.

10% of 300,000,000 is 30,000,000.

You got that correct.
Learned something recently then did you?
Now again, 0.001% of 300,000,000 is ....?

The tilde is a sign for negation in symbolic logic. As already noted '~=' is used in many programming languages.

We are using math here and it is not used in that fashion in any math text book that I have seen.

From wki;
A tilde is also used to indicate “approximately equal to” (e.g. 1.902 ~= 2). This usage probably developed as a typed alternative to the libra symbol used for the same purpose in written mathematics, which is an equal sign (=) with the upper bar replaced by a bar with an upward hump or loop in the middle or, sometimes, a tilde. [Also see Approximation]. The symbol "≈" is also used for this purpose.
