CIT Ranke and Marquis make cover of OC Weekly

My point was not to argue about the wrongness or rightness of the quote. It's certainly not very prevalent to verbalize the phrase in that way, at least stateside. It changes the meaning of the phrase (albeit slightly) and the author of the article thought it was odd enough grammatically to clarify that it wasn't his typo that produced the quote.

My point was to remark that I found it funny that Craig Ranke thought [sic] meant something was misspelled.

Gotcha.

Maybe it's just my ignorance but I feel that Schou was perhaps being slightly overzealous in his use of "[sic]" in this instance, but the chances are I'm wrong and I've been using the word "specific" incorrectly for most of my life. It certainly wouldn't be the first time.

I enjoyed how Craig hilighted his ignorance by completely misunderstanding the annotation term [sic]. Good Job, Mr. Ranke.
I know the html tags spell the word "hilite", but isn't the proper spelling "highlight"?

It's common enough in colloquial English that it probably didn't deserve a [sic], especially since it was quoted from an informal presentation. If you ever use it in a term paper, though, the professor will probably make you correct it to "specifically" or "in specific".

The most proper spelling would be "highlight". As far as I am aware, hilite, highlight, and hilight are all accepted spellings, though. I could very well be wrong about that.

This is priceless. I love how Rob will forever be tagged with the classic "Captain Bob" moniker. Why is the image of the Captain from Captain and Tenille intruding in my mind right now? :p

WOW JUST WOW!
You would think that there would be some sane person stepping in and telling Aldo, Craig, and Capt Psycho Bob
"Ok Ok thats enough"
The insanity is just unreal.
I really hope that none of these dopes own a gun.
I did like this though by Nick
Hi Captain Bob,

I gather you're not happy I didn't interview you or someone else from
your group. My apologies. I also wasn't able to contact Osama bin Laden to
ask him if he's a fall-guy for the US government-sponsored covert operation
Ranke and Marquis (and apparently you as well) believe was behind the events of
9/11. If you have any actual evidence of what happened to the American Airlines
jet
that presumably was emptied of its passengers and crew that day--including
the whereabouts of those people--before some other jet either did or didn't
crash into the building, I'll be the first reporter to write a story
exposing the whole affair. Until then, I'm afraid I'm simply too busy
to
submit to a "recorded" phone call from you or any other critic of my
reporting.

Thanks, and good luck to you, too, sir.

Fixed that for you. :)

Good analysis of Schou's use of [sic] Min and MB. My thoughts too - I'd call it an adj for "anyone," not an adverb for "accusing" and leave the [sic] implies by the quotes. :)

Wow, that's all I feel like commenting on in this thread right now.

Okay, this... Aldo, from PFT forum linked above, to Schou:

WELL THEN WHY DID YOU IGNORE OFFICER ROOSEVELT ROBERTS WHO SAW THE PLANE FLYING AWAY AFTER THE EXPLOSION???

Damn! Well, first why can't CIT SHOW US WHERE HE EVEN SAID IT WAS FLYING AWAY? He only says it was flying southwest of the Pentagon after some plane hit some building somewhere. Why have they been unable to just debunk this alternate interpretation?

I made the appropriate changes to the OC Cover:

OMG that is hilarious!!! So LoneBodoin is a sock for Lyte?

It's what is claimed in the Stundies thread. I can never keep up with who is who so I just take other people's word for it.

Also  for your take on the cover shot.

Mr. Herbert: I'm hitting myself for not thinking of doing that re-do of the cover first! GJ, mate!

I can't confirm it, of course, but based on the content and posting style it's been suspected by quite a number of skeptics here who have dealt with Lyte Trip in the past. On the other hand, I'm not certain Lyte Trip ever directly admitted to being Ranke either, so...

Much like the post on the LC forums- almost every single comment made in support of the CIT is coming from the CIT...

All that wasted energy... if only there were some way we could harvest that- I'm sure we'd at least solve the worlds hunger problems.
